You sat there, stunned. Why did he just stampede off like that? Still, you stood up and went home to gather some study supplies.

The journey wasn't a big one, as he only lived two streets over. The sun was still shining, bright beams pouring through the clouds surrounded by a beautiful pink and orange hue. You loved sunrises and sunsets. You thought that they were most beautiful time of the day.
You carried your books with one arm and left the other free, swinging with as much energy as your legs. As you turned the last corner into the last stretch of pavement, you thoughts lingered to Edward. How they led to him you did not know. But you did think about him as a whole, from his weird behaviour in the park to his behaviour in general. You thought about how his hair was always tied in a ponytail every time you talked to him, and how as often as he could, he'd wear his dark blue checkered shirt over a white shallow v-neck, bringing out his eyes.
You then realised that you had come to a stop in front of a yellow door. Not that horrible yellow that looked too bright. The soft, toned yellow, which also had black painted around the edges. That effect was like a crackle, if you know what I mean. You knocked on it in a rhythmic pattern, purposely leaving four the last two beats. You waited for a while before Edward opened the door, gave you a bitchface and finished it off for you. You both locked eyes with each other and broke into laughter.
"Y/N, come in!" He swiftly gestured you inside, shutting the door behind him. "I'm just giving you a heads up now: my cousin has come over for a few days, so we might be seeing him a bit," he explained, leading you into his dining room.
"That's fine," you replied. "Now, let's get working."
His dining room was a lot warmer than yours. By colour, obviously. He had a faint orange and white mix on one wall, and white on the other three. On the orange wall, there was a picture of the sun setting over the sea, a ship riding the waves. "I've always liked the theme in this room," you commented, sitting in a chair.
"It's the place I go when it's cold. I feel more comfortable in here," Edward replied, shoving his hands in his pockets briefly before he took them out in order to sit next to you. He did, however, bring out his phone and place it on the table.
"Now, let's go back a few hundred years."

"So, you're telling me that James Kidd was actually Mary Read?" You exclaimed in awe.
"Yeah!" Edward leaned back in his chair. "How she managed to do it, I'll never know."
"How do you know all this?!" You exclaimed in awe.
"My father would tell me stories before bed. They always sent me to sleep and I always remembered them," he explained, eyes glazed over as memories poured into his head.
"Imagine what it would be like, being a pirate and–" you were interrupted by the dining room door opening and an unfamiliar boy walking through. He looked a few years younger than Edward, with shoulder length chestnut hair, a small braid on the front left side of his head. His skin was deeply tanned, and his eyes were quite dark. He noticed the two of you almost immediately.
"I'm sorry– I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" He seemed sincerely apologetic.
"Not at all. Y/N, this is Connor; my cousin I was telling you about," Edward introduced.
"Hi!" You greeted enthusiastically.
"Hey," he nodded nonchalantly, walking through the open archway into the kitchen where he opened a small fridge.
"So, where were we?" You stretched your arms.
Edward noticed this. "Do you want to have a break or something?" He asked.
"I don't mind." As soon as you said that, your stomach made a grumbling noise.
"Come with me," Edward chuckled, chair screeching as he stood up. He lead you to the kitchen, manoeuvring past Connor as he suddenly stood up, getting in the way. You mimicked his movements.
"So, we've got biscuits, bread... we can make toast if you want? If you want fruit you can held yourself. My mum hoards them. There are a few muffins left over from yesterday." He was sifting through cupboards.
Your eyes locked onto a bunch of bananas. And suddenly you had an idea.
"How do you feel about banana splits?" You asked.
He followed your gaze, face lighting up when he saw the amount of the fruit that he had. "My favourite," he grinned.
"I'll get the ice cream?"
"I'll get the sprinkles!"
The two of you set off in two directions, you to the fridge and Edward to the cupboards. You found the vanilla straight away. It was almost full. You brought it with an ice cream scoop to the counter.
"Right." You placed your hands on your hips as you looked at the ingredients.
"Let's get started."
[#^•^#]
Two perfect banana splits (Connor was allergic). "We did a great job if I do say so myself!" You looked at your creation with pride. Edward wrapped his arm around your shoulder and shook you playfully, his spare hand in his pocket, thumb sticking out.
"I guess there's only one thing left to do..." Edward hinted.
"Pick yours first," you insisted, stepping back.
"No, you're the guest. You have to pick first," he argued.
You over dramatically groaned. "Fine." You picked the smallest one on purpose. Edward glared at you, picking up on this.
"Right, let's eat!" You took a bite, feeling the ice cream against your left cheek. You pulled the dessert away and placed it on the counter, and Edward chuckled once he saw the mess on your face.
"What?" You asked after you swallowed.
"You have a little something..." he scratched his cheek to act as a mirror. You wiped above the spot without realising.
"Is it gone?" You wondered.
"No, it's still there. May I?" He took his hand out of his pocket.
"I don't mind," you shrugged. He licked his thumb before wiping your cheek slowly. Your eyes flicked across his face, and his did exactly the same. Gradually, your faces came closer and closer, until Edward made a fast move and locked his lips with yours.
At first, you were surprised. But his warm hands on your neck and shoulder relaxed your nerves. You brought your hands up and around his neck, fiddling with the tips of his tied up hair.
Obviously, it couldn't last forever, so you obstinately pulled away. Neither of you moved a muscle for what seemed like a long time, but in reality was only a few moments. "Is this what you wanted to tell me in the park?" You queried softly.
"Uh huh," he breathed, nodding.
"Can I tell you something?"
He nodded again.
"The feeling's mutual."
