============================
It was cold, dark and extremely windy. The night air nipped at your cheeks and turned your nose a rosy pink.
Jacob was beside you, crouched on the edge of the roof and resting on the balls of his feet. You would have been alone on this Templar hunt if it wasn't for him. You were grateful for the extra blade and company.
It was a very busy evening at the docks, with what you counted as–
"Thirteen Blighters and two Templars." Jacob pulled his hood over his head.
"Exactly what I counted." You did the same. "Are you ready?"
"More than you," he smirked.
The both of you watched over the Blighters and observed their patrols. "I bet that I'll kill him first," you challenged, watching your target closely.
"Do you now?" Jacob replied.
"There's only one way to find out..." you trailed off and performed a Leap of Faith into a haystack beneath you, not giving him time to answer.
You peeked out from the straw, watching a big brute of a man walk past you. Without hesitation, you pounced, shoving your blade through the nape of his neck. You pulled the body inside with you. With another glance, you spotted a stack of crates to your right. Jumping hastily out of the wagon, you took cover there. You could see Jacob on the other side of the docks, double assassinating another pair of Blighters. He used his skills gracefully, a good contrast to his rather reckless behaviour.
Before you could get too transfixed, a pair of obnoxiously loud footsteps sauntered past you. With your breath hitched into your throat, you withdrew from the edge. The footsteps stopped, and a rather baritone voice spoke, "Where did James go?"
Without thinking, you glanced at the haystack. You noticed the marks of blood you had accidentally made with your hands along the side of the splintered wood. He seemed to notice it too, as he walked into your view towards the haystack. All he needed to do was turn around, and your position would be compromised. If you didn't feel like melting into the crates before, you certainly did now.
All of a sudden, a voice yells loudly, "It's that Frye bloke! Over there!" The Templar at the haystack turned away from you, and you couldn't help but breathe quite a remarkable sigh of relief.
You followed the thundering footsteps and unsheathed your kukri. It fit comfortably in your hand and slightly relaxed you, despite the sight of two brutes sprinting right at you, but holding cleavers. You struck first, slamming your kukri upon his shoulder and thrusting your blade through his neck. You quickly kicked the corpse off of the metal and threw it towards the brute behind you, embedding itself through his chest. You then took out your pistol and shot him between the eyes, afterward retrieving your weapon. You looked towards Jacob and saw him struggling with all sorts of Blighters; six in total.
You easily took two to the floor from behind, but as you did so, you wondered to yourself, where are the others?
A sputtering engine directed you to the murky river. Before you could get a good look, something grabbed at the back of your ankle and tripped you back, sending you to the floor and your kukri along the stones, out of reach. A Blighter stood above you, dagger above her head, preparing to plunge it deep into your chest. You reached out with one arm, desperately clawing for it and tried to parry any attacks with the other.
You jumped out of your skin as a gunshot sounded and the Blighter fell on top of you, well and truly dead. "Chase the boat!" You commanded Jacob, nodding your head in thanks as he ran past, kicking your kukri towards your hand. It slid into your palm.
