'Down'

When did it occur...
The moment the smile that always reached my eyes stopped reaching.
When was it you decided that my every word was but a lie?

What hour did I become unworthy of your time?
The same day my tears became a downpour.
My cheeks stay forever red from the whipping of one's words.

When you left, my scars began their lifelong stay.
Engraving themselves inside my soul.
Carving wounds, wounds in need of stitches, but only covered with the dirty bandages of my self-esteem.

Never your first choice.
Choosing to run away from what you could not control.
Too wild.

Wrong.
Too selfish to see.
Only to make me realize you're not who I want to be.

So I continue to stay,
Earning scars on the part.
Yet never choosing a new start.

They come and they go,
Bidding me not worth the stay.
Yet I remain.

Looking for my bandage,
Looking for my stitches.
To mend my,

Retributive,
Broken,
Bleeding scars.
