Ezra's Lair, as I liked to call it was situated near the richer side of the city. It was stuffed between a garden and a large house adorned with statues depicting the fearless gods. I leapt from the roof of a house, landing in a crouch; I stood gracefully and took in Ezra house.
Even though I lived here it never seemed like a place I could call home. I strolled to his front door knowing that he would be beyond angry for how late I was. I shoved his cherry red door open, walked down the immaculate hallway adorned with various paintings, expensive drawers and tables and a ceiling that was painted deep flush of red.
The floorboards never creaked and seamlessly flowed into one another. His office was found at the back of the house, down some stairs up a small flight then down a twisted corridor.
"Your late." Came a deep voice from within his office just when I was about to knock. His voice had an undertone of anger. I opened the door to see Ezra perched behind his desk. The colour scheme of the room was red. Can you guess his favorite colour?
"Well, hello to you too!" I said cheerfully as I shut the door with a flick of my foot causing it to bang shut knowing he hated it when I do this.
"This is no time for games! Do you have it?" Ezra said with a bite, his voice chilly.
"Yes, yes don't worry I have it! Sheesh don't bite my head off!" I replied pulling the book from my pocket and handing it to Ezra.
He rose and snatched it from my hands then promptly sat down and stared at the cover with a gleam in his eyes. Snapping from his trance he swiftly ripped the cover open and scoured through the book. I watched in amusement, his head shot up when I coughed.
"Go now, leave." He dismissed me roughly with a wave of his hand then began to devour the book once again. I huffed and strod to the door, shutting it with a bang.
"And not even a thanks!" I exclaimed, irritated with him.
I pushed my back off the door afraid that the colour would affect my mood, even though it already had. I slouched my way towards the kitchen, which was located towards the back of the house. A divine smell assaulted my senses as I shuffled towards the center of my world- the kitchen. Warm flooded through me as I opened heavy oak doors, I blissfully sighed and closed my eyes, inhaling beautiful smell of apple crumble.
"Ahhh huntress! Are you sleep eating again?" Beat scolded, dutifully stirring a spoon in a pot.
"What?! Me? Never!" I shot back teasingly with a slight smile on my face. Beat humped, shook herself and muttered softly to herself. Cloth that hung snugly on her, Beat stood half a head taller than me, hair caught and trapped in a bun- brown hair made their escape framing her giant blue eyes. Her feet were filthy as was the rest of her and as she walked away from the stove there was a slight limp.
