Alia

Laughing at Connor, who was telling me a terrible joke, my eyes locked onto a truck. A truck that I was familiar with. Scanning up the truck, I stopped walking, a huge smile starting to grow. There stood my dad leaning on his truck, glancing at Connor the boy nudged me.

Running over to where my father was, he instantly pulled me into a hug. "Hey dad". A small kiss was placed on my head, before he looked at me.

"So I got some good news for you". Looking at him questioningly, a piece of paper was slipped into my hands to look at. The second I laid on the very top, Everything became so surreal. My name last name had officially changed. I was no longer Just Alia Carrington. I was Alia Carrington-Halstead.

Filled with excitement I threw my hands around him, thrilled that I was officially in my dad's care. "Do people know". Opening the truck door, he helped me inside.

"Well Hailey, Voight and Platt do. Then Will, your now uncle was the one who ran the test for me"

"So I'm really your kid". Grinning at me, he hopped into the drivers side of the truck, turning on the engine before looking at me. A huge wave of happiness in his eyes.

"You really are my kid Alia, and I'm going to do everything in my power to be the best father I can be. Even though following after Jacob is going to be tough"

Laughing slightly, I buckled my seat belt, and he left the school parking lot. He told me he already got my stuff from my foster family, Jacob basically saying I can come back at anytime.

Asking the man driving a few questions, he eventually pulled the truck over and killed the engine. "You ready". Grinning at him, I opened the truck door and hopped out, grabbing my backpack on the way.

Walking around to my side of the truck, I followed the man into an apartment complex, up the stairs to an apartment near the very end. Unlocking the door, he gestured for me to enter first.

Stepping into the threshold of my new home, a huge sense of comfort hit me, the idea of having a real family, and a dad who wants to know the daughter he didn't know he had. A picture was on the wall, one of him in his military attire, a great deal of respect radiated off of me.

A loving hand was placed on my shoulder as he noticed the picture I was looking at. "Do you ever want to go go back". I asked softly. Facing the man, he just shook his head, smiling softly.

"Nope. Especially now that I got you to look out for". Leading me towards a room off the kitchen. Opening the door, I met a decent size room. I was never one who cared about space, especially when growing up in a foster house, I learned to only care about the necessities and being grateful.

Placing my bag on the bed, spun around to face my father, who was leaning on the wall. "It's perfect". With a bounce in my step, I stopped in front of him. Pulling me into a hug, I gladly hugged him back.

"Now we have dinner with your uncle later. He says he wants to meet his niece properly."

"Ok". Kissing my forehead, he walked away, allowing me to digest the big change. Noticing the boxes laid on my floor, and duffle bag full of my clothes, I purses my lips. I may love the new change but I do hate unpacking.

After a little while of placing stuff where I want them, I quickly changed into some cute, yet appropriate. I may have met Will, but that was at the hospital where I only met him due to Jordan.

Slipping on a pair of black spandex, I carefully pulled on a black fitting dress. One that made me feel good about myself yet appropriate. Sliding on a jean jacket, since I have no idea where exactly we were eating dinner. Tying the laces on my white converse, I smiled at my appearance.

Quickly, yet neatly putting my hair in a bun, I left my bedroom. Walking out into the living room, I saw my father dressed in a pair of jeans and a nice shirt. Grinning at me, he stood up from the couch, snatching his keys from the counter. "Is this appropriate". I questioned him nervously.

I want to make a good first impression. Skimming over my outfit, he gave an approving nod. Waltzing our of the apartment after my father, I started to feel anxious, worried that Will won't like me.

Sensing my worries, the older man put a comforting arm over my shoulders. "He is going to love you Alia"

Hearing the reassurance come from him, I relaxed slightly. Hopping into dad's truck, he drove for a little while, stopping in front of a cute diner. Helping me out, we made our way inside where my uncle's vibrant red hair stood out.

Approaching the man, he slid out of the booth, standing up to greet me. Noticing his own hesitation, I braved up, wrapping my arms around his waist. "Long time no see"

Taking a step back from the man, I watched my dad and Will do a brotherly hug. Chilling in the booth, I felt at ease, just enjoying spending time with the two of them. I mean they are my family, actual blood relations.

"Does that mean I get free doctor visits because you are my uncle" I asked randomly, causing Will to shake his head in amusement while my father started laughing.

"Nah, but since you are an honorary Halstead, I will do house visits though". Smiling victoriously, my dad sent a playful glare to Will.

"Hold on, you will do house visits for Alia but I'm forced to go to hospitals. Where is my family discount"

"Well you see she is my niece, I got to spoil her. As for you, I've dealt with you for too long". Chuckling at the family banter, I leaned my head on my dad's arm.

Staying for a few more minutes, I talked to Will about some of the pain I get in the back of my head from time to time. Going over a few things that could help, the three of us eventually left.

A wave of  tiredness blanketed over me once we got into the truck, and my father being very observant, noticed. "Get some sleep Kiddo"

Driving home, I tried to stay awake for as long as possible, but with the lack of sleep the past few days, I was sleep in minutes.

Jay glanced over to his sleeping daughter, a peaceful look on her face. The former ranger, still smiling at the thought of having a kid. Intelligence was getting an idea that something was going on in the Halstead personal life, by the way Jay has been running around the past few days.

If only they knew that Alia Halstead would soon become a big part of Intelligence.
