Dropping me off at school the next morning, Hailey promised to text me updates on my dad if I kept her updated every now and then that I was ok. Something I felt very heartwarming. The bond between the two of us grows stronger everyday and it is something I never thought I needed, but something I deeply appreciate now that I have someone like Hailey.

Walking into school slightly sore from the self defense with Antonio, I sucked it up quickly once Thing One, Thing Two and Thing Three tackled me in hugs, almost knocking me to the ground from the force. Talking to the little gang for a few minutes, I allowed my mind to forget about the things that have happened yesterday.

Eventually going our separate ways, Jordan and I started to talk about random nonsense on our way to our lockers. Complaining about one of the homework assignments, I let out a small groan at the remembrance of homework. "Jord, do you have the homework for Science, I didn't get to do it last night".

I was putting somethings into my locker hearing the sound of rustling papers before the homework was shown in front of my face. "Right here". With a grateful smile, I slid it expertly into my folder to work on when I had a free time in our first class.

Now I wasn't usually one to not do the homework but from time to time the piece of paper that gets graded for accuracy or maybe effort becomes forgotten about. Things happen that make you forget about the assignment due the next day and when that happens befriend the people who always have it, makes your life easier when you remember it an hour or two before it is due. Most of the time I am the person who sneakily slides people the homework to "glance and compare answers" or "accidentally" sends someone a picture of the homework.

Not wasting anymore time, the two of us made our way through the halls and to our first class, a normal conversation flowing between the two of us. Everything was good until she brought up my dad and it dampened my mood slightly , it still made me sad that my dad was alone in a hospital and potentially a target. "Don't worry about me to much, I'm staying with Connor and Drake for a few days until everything gets sorted. Besides patrol will be keeping watch"

I wasn't lying about that, Hailey and Voight told me all about what will happen until the guy who shot my dad got arrested. Patrol was going to be on constant look out around my foster dad's place for an extra protection if someone was going to come after me.

"You know, it has to be pretty cool to have an entire unit of police officers and detectives at your disposal"

Sending the girl a bright smile, I just nodded my head in agreement copying down the science homework with ninja stealth. When you have to do something in secret, it always seems an unknown ability washes over you so you can complete the task without anyone knowing.

Keeping true to her word, halfway through first period, Hailey texted me telling me all about how my dad attempted to escape the hospital and how Uncle Will was the one who caught him. No doubt a small bickering argument occurred between the two brothers, one who hates hospitals and the other who had to see his brother come in unconscious and bloody. Knowing the guilt card my uncle would pull, he would win the argument but only by a little bit. Sneaking in a text to Hailey soon after, I let her know I was ok and school was still boring.

Not wasting a single second after spotting Connor and Drake at the end of school, the three of us raced towards the bus, a familiar action that occurred constantly. "You can't beat me Connor"

"Don't be so certain about that Halstead, I have been practicing"

It was true that the boy was getting faster and could almost catch up with me but I once again beat him by a few seconds. Sending him an innocent smile, I let out a laugh as he playfully pushed me into the bus. "You were close Connor, I'll admit but not fast enough"
