Alia

Everything was good, at least it has been for the past 3 weeks. Jay and I were growing closer everyday, even with his work hours not really being consistent. I spent most afternoons at the apartment, but the rest I am over at the Cramer household.

Jordan was starting to let people back in, but was still afraid to be alone with people. Which makes me the trusty body guard, something I am totally succeeding at.

Getting out of the car, I waved at Jordan's parents as they drove away. Walking into school with my blonde side kick, I started laughing at what she was saying. "No honey, the other one was hotter".

Since I left the Cramer house, my transportation to school mostly relied on Jay, which he was totally ok with. The problem was when he works morning cases, it kind of makes it difficult, so Jordan's parents volunteered to take me.

"Did you see his green eyes Alia, he was the most attractive out of the two of them". Sending girl a look of disbelief, I shook my head.

"You are wrong about this one Jordan". Opening my locker, I placed some of my binders and backpack inside before turning towards the blonde.

Sighing in defeat, I threw an arm over her shoulder. Continuing our talk as we headed to class, this heavy feeling started to grow in my gut, warning me about something. Trying not to give the girl next to me paranoia I kept quiet.

My phone started buzzing in my pocket, causing me to pull it out. Looking over it, I held a nervous look. Connor was feeling the same way I was, he too felt like something was going to happen. Tugging the girl into the classroom, we took our seats.

The whole day I was on edge, making sure that if something were to happen, I had exit strategies. I had Connor texting me with updates if he has heard anything, after all teachers will sometimes spill when they are panicked.

Sliding the back pack onto my back, I made way through the hallways to the lobby, Jordan at my side. We were about to leave when I spotted a vehicle and person that meant bad news. When my father arrested Mason, his sidekick Zeke didn't do time, there was a lack of evidence against him.

Stopping the girl from moving, she sensed that something was going on. "Alia what is going on, you have been tense all day"

"Just stay close to me". Giving me a nod, I turned my head slightly to see Connor and Drake. As the 4 of us walked out the door, Jordan gasped in fear, and I made direct eye contact with Zeke. Raising my eyebrow at the boy, he gave a smirk before hopping in his car and driving away.

Not liking the whole feeling that gave off, I sent a look to Connor and Drake. "I think we found our answer". Climbing into Jordan's car, her parents drove away.

Dropping me off outside of the apartment, I waved them off. Glancing over my shoulder absolutely filled with a sense of paranoia, I entered the building. Once Mason was put into jail, Zeke never tried to talk to us, he never came near us. Now that he is, I'm not liking where that is heading.

Unlocking the apartment door, I relaxed slightly. Just as I was shutting the door behind me, a force stopped me. Whipping around quickly, and stepping back, all color drained from my face. Mason Gomez was standing in front of me.

Taking steps backwards as he walked further into the apartment, Zeke shut the door behind him. Blocking me in. "You want to know what happens to snitches"

"Nothing because I'm not a snitch". Reaching towards me, I smacked his hand away, throwing him off balance slightly. Quickly glancing around the room for potential items to use in defense, I ducked under the arm that was being thrown at me.

Only as I did, hands wrapped around my waist. As I was going to scream, a hand was slapped over my mouth, muffling any chance of help. Mason stalked over to me, a sadistic smile on his face. "Seems like I went after the wrong one. The feistier ones are always better"

Understanding what was about to happen, the fighting part of me kicked in. Waiting til the boy was close enough, I kicked my leg out, connecting to his groin sending him tumbling to the ground. Smacking my head backwards, Zeke's hold lessened, allowing me to shove him backwards.

A hand attached around my ankle, sending me falling to the floor. Mason tried to pull me closer to his pain filled body, but I continued to kick, not caring what I hit. Pulling my self out of his grasp, I bolted towards the door.

Throwing it open, I sprinted down the hallway and towards the stairs, fear and adrenaline pumping through my veins. Their shouts started chase after me, only causing me to run faster.

My footsteps echoed down the streets of Chicago as I tried to make it towards my dad's work. Just the two boys were catching up quickly. Spotting a firehouse, I dashed across the street and up the driveway, instantly alerting the firefighters who were outside.

They looked confused at first until they saw Mason and Zeke chasing after me. "Help me". Jumping into action several of the firefighters pulled me behind them, creating a barrier.

Realizing they couldn't get to me, they ran from the firehouse. Processing what went down, tears feel down my face. Footsteps cautiously approached me, as if they knew I would be startled. "Hey kid, you're ok now."

Smiling at them gratefully, they tried to figure out the situation, knowing it isn't everyday a kid comes sprinting to the firehouse for help. "Is it possible for you to call my dad, I couldn't...". Placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder Captain Casey nodded at me.

"You are safe here kid, why don't you get looked over by Brett and Foster while we call your dad". Making eye contact with the two paramedics, they smiled brightly at me.

Walking me over to the ambo, the scanned over me, making sure there was no wounds that needed tended. I was talking to them for a few minutes before they took me inside.

I was met with a group of wild people, all having a good time. I was getting to know everyone, and trying to remember names when I heard my dad's voice. "Alia"

Standing up from the chair I was on, I ran over to my dad, who instantly wrapped his arms around me, holding me into a protective hug. "Dad". Kissing the top of my head, he looked towards the firefighters.

Casey and Severide walked over to us. "Thanks for helping her out". Watching the men shake hands, I still leaned into my dad's embrace.

"You got a good kid Halstead. She was smart enough to come here". Doing another round of thanks, I walked out of the firehouse with my dad.

Once we were in the truck, I turned towards him, tears falling down my face. "He is out of prison". The man looked at me confused until he connected the dots quickly.

Leaning over the console, he wiped the tears away, a look of love in his eyes. "I'm so proud of you Alia."
