Daddy's Little Girl is officially no long on hold! Haha, and just like I promised, it's is just in time for the new year. I'm sorry that it's been so long but thank you for sticking with me! After reading the story over again, I decided to make the minor change to take Nate, Amy's husband, out of the story. This won't change much because I first mentioned him in the last chapter. (I already have that changed on the saved doceument and as soon as I post this, I am going to change that small detail.) I will be posting a new chapter to this story once a week, every Sunday. Again, thank you for your patience, I hope you enjoy! So without further ado, here is Daddy's Little Girl chapter 16!

My heart stops. "It's a sign. He's following us. Oh it's all my fault! Jack and Lauren! God I've put them in danger too! Oh I'm so sorry Amy!" I cry.

"Honey, everything is fine. I'm sure it was just a coincidence. Or maybe she ran away. You know how you teenagers are. I'm sure she will turn up just fine in a few days. Jack and Lauren will be perfectly safe." Amy assures.

"Mommy what's wrong? Why is Maggie crying again? Why wouldn't Lauren and I be safe?" Jack whispers from the doorway. We all turn around. None of us had noticed he returned.

"Why aren't you upstairs with your sister Jack?" Amy asks him.

"Because I came down to ask your when you were going to come tuck us in. It's past Lauren's bedtime and it's almost mine." He whines.

"Honey, I'll be upstairs soon. Please just go back upstairs and tell your sister I will be in to tuck her in in a few minutes."

"Lauren wanted Maggie to come tell a bedtime story. So came she come up too?"

"Yeah Jack. I'll be up in a minute okay? Just let me finish talking to your mom." He nods and turns slowly to go back upstairs.

We wait in silence until we hear his soft padding up the stairs and down the hall.

"Amy I feel so bad that I've put your family in danger like this. We need Rick and my father locked away as soon as possible. Knowing my dad, he will come looking for us soon." I say urgently.

"Maggie, don't feel bad. It is not your fault your father and his friend are doing this." Amy soothes.

I take a deep breath. "We need to stop them. This has to stop. This all needs to stop as soon as possible. We need to find that poor girl."

Amy nods. "Of course. But we can't automatically assume that Rick took her. There is no evidence on that." I nod, understanding.

"We should probably call Mr. Goldberg and tell him about our assumption, regardless of evidence. If we can make him aware that the two may be connected, there is a chance he could get someone to investigate further. Right?" Ryan suggests.

"Well we could certainly ask." Amy agrees. I feel a little better, knowing there might be something we can do to help.

I hear little feet scampering around upstairs, Amy and I go upstairs to tuck the kids into bed. Ryan flips the television from the news back to Finding Nemo.

I get upstairs right behind Amy and we head to Lauren's room first. The five year old isn't in there.

Figuring she is just playing in Jack's room, we go further down the hall. But instead of two kids playing around, we find Jack running around frantically, checking his closet and under the bed. Amy's eyebrows furrow together. "What are you looking for honey?" She asks with a hint of concern and confusion in her voice.

He runs over to his mother with tears in his eyes. "Mommy, I can't find Lauren anywhere."

My heart stops. "Ryan!" I scream. I look at Amy, who looks like she is about to faint. Quickly, I usher her over to her son's bed, where she sits and rubs her temples, fighting off tears. I hear Ryan sprinting up the stairs as I bend down and place my hands on Jack's shoulders. I look the scared little boy in the eyes. "What were you doing up here that you lost your sister?" I ask, as evenly as I can considering I'm breaking down inside. I love that little girl like a little sister and daughter combined into one adorable package.
