Jade's POV
Chapter 16 : Year 4Rochelle and I have been spending quite a lot of time together. We would meet in the library and talk (as well as study) about random things. Family, school, boys and the list could go on. I just loved spending time with my cousin.
"So 'as anyone asked you to ze Ball yet?" She asked.
"Er... No," I replied awkwardly, "Well yes, but I declined."
"Oh, why'z zat?"
"I-I was just hoping someone in particular would ask me," I said, looking off over to a distance bookcase.
"Listen here, Jade. I would try and ask him first. Maybe he is just to shy to ask you. You never know. Pluck up ze courage and do so and I'm sure he won't decline or zink otherwise," Rochelle said to me, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah, you know what? I think you're right!" I smiled and she smiled back.
It was true. Seamus asked me but I declined. He is now going with Lavender Brown. Dean asked me and I also declined. Even some Durmstrang dude asked me and I didn't even know his name! Of course, I said no.
"I need to go now, Rochelle. See you later!" I said, standing up and putting my books away.
"Ok zen. See you later, Jade." She skipped off. I giggled to myself.
After picking up my last book, someone starts to talk to me.
"Hello Jade," they said. It was Jack.
The book I was holding nearly slipped out of my hand at the sudden sight of him.
Oh god. Does my hair look okay? Do I have anything on my face? Is my robes dirty?
"Oh, h-hi Jack," I managed to choke out.
"Sorry, I couldn't help but over hear that you still haven't got a date to the Yule Ball?"
"No," I answered.
"Well, I was wondering... If you want to, but - em - w-would you want to go to the Ball with me?" He said, finally meeting my eyes. I just stand there looking at him like a complete idiot.
"I mean, it could be a great way to get to know each other."
"Oh, um, yes. Yes, I will go to the Ball with you," I smiled and he looked relieved and happy.
"Great. Well, I will see you soon then," Jack grinned.
"Yeah, bye!"
When he leaves, I do a mini air-punch. Yes!
Harry's POV
Right, asking Cho to the Ball obviously didn't work but what about Jade? I mean, I have had a crush on her since first year and we are really close friends. Now, where would she be? She said she went to the library with her cousin so I'll go there.
I try and dodge all the flying books, finding their way to their bookcase, and look everywhere for her. Suddenly, I see her talking to some Hufflepuff guy. I couldn't help but eavesdrop on their conversation.
"Sorry, I couldn't help but over here that you still haven't got a date to the Yule Ball?"
"No," Jade answered.
"Well, I was wondering... If you want to, but - em - w-would you want to go to the Ball with me?" He asked.
I felt a pang of anger in my stomach.
Please say no. Please say no. Please say no.
"I mean, it could be a great way to get to know each other."
