You can take this in the literal sense or you can take the more metaphorical route, whichever tickles your fancy.
Write in any form that you prefer, a relationship between your character and death. It can be a happy one, a sad one, or even a dark one. Your character might not even know that Death is there but perhaps they do things behind the scene for your character.
Death could be a physical presence or it could be incorporeal, maybe it is peaceful or maybe it is forceful.
