Upon arriving at New York yesterday, we went to my Kuya RD's place at Brooklyn to settle our things. Dito na kasi naka-base si kuya kasama ng pamilya niya. He migrated a year after he got married. But as we arrived, they were about to go to Chicago to visit my sister-in-law's family for two weeks. Kaya naman kami lang ulit ni Maine ang maiiwan sa bahay.
"Meng, someone's calling you."
"Oh, wait."
She answered her phone and her face literally lit up after. Nagulat yata siya sa sinabi ng kausap niya. She ended the call after a few minutes.
"Si Gara yun, if you were wondering."
"Weh?"
"Yup! Apparently, nakita daw niya yung IG photos natin from here ans nabanggit niya na nandito rin siya sa New York. Sabi niya she'll meet us at this restaurant two blocks away," hinila niya ako. "Tara na! Kasama ni Gara yung asawa niya!"

Gara was our highschool classmate, and Maine's bestfriend aside from me. Medyo naging close din kami because of Maine. Ang huling balita lang namin sa kanya is she migrated to the States when she got married three years ago.
Pagdating namin sa restaurant, nakita agad namin si Gara. Seated in front of her I think was her husband.
"Gara!" Maine called her.
"Menggay!"
At nagulat kami nung makita namin kung sinong kasama niya.
"Andrew?!"
"You guys know each other?!" Gara exclaimed.
Hindi namin ineexpect to. After highschool kasi, hindi na namin nakasama si Gara since she didn't go to the same college with us. Andrew, as you all know, was Maine's college boyfriend.
We settled at the table and ordered our food.
"Hindi ko ineexpect na ikaw yung asawa ni Andrew, Gara! Tinuro ka lang naman kasi sakin ni Andrew dun sa Disneyland! Grabe hindi kita nakilala!" sabi ni Maine. Sabagay, ako din. Nakatalikod kasi sila non tapos medyo malayo na sila.
"Kailan kayo nagkakilala?" I asked them both.
"We met at Italy, after Maine and I broke up." Andrew said while looking at Gara.
"Napagkamalan niya akong kumuha ng bag niya."
"Hanggang ngayon hindi ka pa din makamove on diyan, mahal."
Gara smiled at Andrew. "Manahimik ka nga, mahal."
"Aww you guys. You look so cute together."
Maine doesn't even look bothered at all. Sabagay, she became friends with Andrew after he said sorry.
"Guys, I'll go to the restroom lang ha?" Sabi ni Maine sa amin.
Gara stood up as well. "I'll come with you."
It was awkwardly silent when were left at the table, until Andrew spoke.
"You like her, don't you?"
Nagulat ako sa sinabi ni Andrew.
"You like her. Si Maine."
"She's my bestfriend."
"Wala namang rule na nagsasabing bawal mainlove sa bestfriend ah?"
My forehead creased and my brows furrowed. Anong gustong palabasin nito?
Andrew chuckled while playing with his baller band. "I know that look, RJ. Kahit naman noon pa. You've been so protective of Maine. Nung naghiwalay kami, alam kong gusto mong basagin yung mukha ko."
