Chapter Five

Sitting in the pack jail is not the way I wanted to spend the night, but here I was, in the dirty cell below the pack house. The walls covered in scratches, the smell of mould, water dripping and a dirty toilet in the corner. Fair to say I never thought I'd end up in here, again

I may have stole some things when I was younger, I had put that behind me though when I was offered a chance to train to be beta. I told myself then that I'd never end up here again but here I was

Thankfully they had put Shane in a cell far away from mine, most likely for his safety

The sound of a door opening brought me out of my thoughts. I looked down the hall and saw Diana walking toward me

"Come to bust me out?" I smiled, I saw her smirk slightly. I noticed a few of her bruises were almost cleared up

"I wish I could" she sighed sadly "did you hear that they might kick Shane out of the pack?" She fidgeted nervously

"Yeah I did"

"I ah" she pauses, I can see the sadness in her eyes "I love him you know"

"Diana..."

She cuts me off "I know what he did wasn't right, I know I'm an idiot, but deep down I really do love him and if he gets kicked out of the pack I don't know what I'm going to do"

I look her over, I couldn't believe what she was saying "Diana, you can't be serious? You came to me for help and now you're taking that back?"

"I thought I could just talk to you, I didn't know you'd run to him ready for a fight" she looks at the ground almost ashamed by what she's saying

"I don't think you believe what you're saying, Diana" she looks at me with tears in her eyes "if he gets kicked out of the pack tomorrow that's his problem, don't blame yourself for this"

"But.."

"No, it's his fault, he deserves everything that's coming to him and if they kick him out he can never touch you again"

Tears start running down her face and she walks over to me and hugs me through the bars. "Thank you" she sobs

I know she's only saying those things because she's scared, she says goodbye and walks away. I guess I should try to get some sleep

"Kyan, you are on trial here for the attack on Mr Shane Landwright" I was stood in front of the high council of the pack. The ones who took care of pack problems "what do you plead?"

There were witnesses and they all knew I was guilty, I just have to explain my way out of it "guilty" I hear a couple of gasps from people watching but I didn't care

The people on the high council look me over and the same one from before speaks again "do you have a reason for what you did?"

I looked for Diana in the crowd and pointed to her "he was beating Diana, when I saw her face bruised I couldn't control my anger" she lowered her head in embarrassment, most of her bruises had healed now but you could still see a few cuts

"Kyan, we are under the assumption you and Diana have had a sexual relationship in the past?" He pauses "are you sure this wasn't an act of jealousy?"

I looked around the room and my eyes met with Cade's who shook his head. I didn't know how the council knew about it but I guess I never hid it from anyone "that was in the past, we became good friends afterward and she moved on"

"Why do you think she told you about this and not your alpha?" He pointed at Cade "surely he should have known about this?"

"I don't know why, I guess she felt she could trust me"

"Why didn't you go to your alpha immediately to inform him?" He questioned

I didn't know why, deep down I know I should have "I guess I let my anger get the best of me" I confessed

"This is not the first time your anger has been an issue, Kyan" he looked down at the notes on his table "but, you are the beta of the pack and one of your duties is to take care of pack members" he paused "in light of the reasons for your attack, we want you to take anger management classes weekly until further notice"

At this everyone got up to leave the room, I nodded at the council, I had got away with just a mere slap on the wrist luckily. They were going to do Shane's trial within the hour and I had no interest in going, it was up to Diana to decide what she tells the high council and I had no interest

I hadn't had any breakfast, my stomach growls in annoyance and I walk straight to the kitchen. With a lot of the pack interested in Shane's trial I find the kitchen empty. I grab myself some bacon and eggs. Turning on the stove I start to cook, my stomach growling again as I smell the deliciousness

"That smells good, want to cook me some?" I hear from behind, I knew she was there before she spoke, being a beta my senses were heightened and it came in handy

I turn around and smile at Electra "I didn't hear a please" I grin, crossing my arms over my chest

She grins back at me "fine... Please?" she pouts, I find the action kind of cute

I really shouldn't be thinking of her that way, I turn away from her before I get myself in trouble and add some more bacon and eggs. I felt like there was a hole being burnt into the back of my head, Electra was watching me cook, I had taken glances at her from the corner of my eye and it looked like she was thinking about something

I finished cooking, put it on a plate and handed it to Electra. She still seemed lost in thought "you okay?" I ask a bit concerned with her behaviour

She nods "I'm fine, thank you for the food" she smiles. There's still something on her mind

We eat in silence, which I find a bit unnerving and Electra still seems to be lost in thought. She finishes her food then looks up at me, I turn away quickly to not get caught staring. Truth was I had finish mine minutes ago and had been studying her face. She had really grown into her chubby cheeks, her lips full and plump. Her eyes a sparkling green, she must send a lot of wolves crazy around here

Electra coughs to divert my attention back to her "well ah, thanks for breakfast" she smiles politely but it doesn't reach her eyes, she gets up and makes a bee line to the door

I couldn't help myself "is there something wrong?" I ask to her retreating back

She stops for a moment, turns around slowly and looks to the ground "I've had something on my mind" she fidgets, moving her foot around below her and twiddling her thumbs "we were good friends before I left, but Cade seems to have a problem with it now" she pauses to take a breath "I was just wondering why?" She looks up at me, her eyes piercing into my soul. There's no way I can tell her
