*Two weeks after the shift*

“Hey Ana, what’s up?” I walked into the pack library to see Ana on a small ladder reaching for a book. She jumped and almost fell off but steadied herself and sent me a timid smile.

“Oh… Hey Gabriel. What are you doing in here?” Her voice was small and she sounded uncomfortable. My eyebrows pulled together. She’s been acting different for a little over a week around the time that I had shifted. First she stopped coming into my room to sleep with, something we’ve been doing for years. After that she kind of stopped talking to me and hanging out she says that she’s “busy” but I’m not sure with what. To be honest it kind of hurt. No, not kind of. It really hurt she was my best friend and now she’s just ignoring me and it’s like she through me to the side. I closed and locked the door and took a few steps towards her.

“Ana, what’s wrong? Did I do something? You’ve been acting so cold to me and you’re being very distant. I miss you, just tell me what I did and I’ll fix it.” I gave her a begging look and an expression of guilt crossed over her face.

“I’m sorry Gabriel, I’m just worried.” She answered softly.

“About what? How can I help? I’ll do anything.” I took a few more steps towards her and she flinched.

“You’ve changed Gabriel. Not in a bad but, in a really good way but you’ve changed a lot and I’m not sure exactly what it all means.” I gave her a confused look. What does she mean that I changed? I know that I finally got my wolf and shifted but I don’t understand why that would  push her away from me.

“I don’t understand, please. What is confusing you?” She sighed and looked me in the eye. She scanned the books again until she found the one that she wanted. It was a very thick book and it looked extremely old like it would crumble to dust if you so much as breathed on it. She slowly climbed down the ladder and set the book on the desk that was littered with several other books and papers.

“You… You’re different. You were supposed to shift at the age of ten and you finally shifted at the age of eighteen... That’s eight years Gabriel. You hold the longest record time and it’s insane. You’re also stronger than the Alpha. And you were only born from a pack doctor and warrior so how is that possible. When you run you’re basically flying and you don’t get out of breath or tired… I just… I don’t understand.” She looked at me with a slight pout on her face. Now that she brought it up, she was right. I shouldn’t be as strong as I am.

“Maybe it’s just because my wolf was dormant for so longer that I’m on a power surge and it’ll die down soon enough.” I told her with a shrug she just shook her head and waved me over to the books that she had set out over the table.

“That’s not just it Gabriel. Your wolf, it’s pure white. There has never been a pure white wolf before, just like there has never been a pure black. And there’s a prophecy… About you well I think that it’s you anyway.” She opened up the book that she pulled down from the shelf and showed it to me. She flipped to the page that she wanted and eve though the words were pretty faded it was still easy enough to see.

At night we prowl

At day we hide

A black wolf will be born and we will rise

Night becomes  the day

The mythical becomes real

But just like the dark there will be a light

A pure white wolf that will be born on midnight

A war will break out the day versus the dark
