Vera watched the marshmallows sink inside her hot chocolate, a small smile growing on her face as her hand immediately warmed up when her fingers made contact with the glass cup. ❝I really feel bad for that girl over there,❞ she said without looking up at Sage. ❝She's been trying to get your attention for about thirty minutes now.❞

❝...Another girl has my attention.❞

❝Stop flirting with me.❞

❝Make me.❞

She lifted her head.
❝I will show no mercy when I go over there and-❞

❝Kiss me senseless? Awh babe, you don't have to do that.❞ he winked at her.
❝Well...at least not here.❞

❝I've been such a bad influence on you.❞

❝Glad you noticed.❞

❝Are you confident enough to kiss me now?❞

He lifted his brow. ❝Maybe. I definitely won't show
mercy if you really want me to do that.❞

❝You've changed. A lot.❞

❝You love it.❞

❝I liked you before, roof boy...
you don't have to change for anyone. Especially me.❞
she said, taking a sip from her drink. ❝Then again...this Sage is really fun.
I never know what to expect from him next.❞

❝Good to know that I'm keeping you on your toes,❞ he gave her a cute smile and leaned forward. He studied one of the stray gray curls, his eyes then morning down to her face. He brought one of  his hands toward her and softly pulled the curl away from her eyes and placed it behind her ear.   ❝...How about we do a cliche cafe scene?❞

❝...Was that not what we were just doing?❞

He laughed and Vera gripped the handle on her cup as he rubbed her cheek, a million emotions punching her right in the gut. This boy was going to be the death of her. He looked at her as if he was in love with her. She laughed nervously and said, ❝You're a good actor.❞

❝Who said anything about acting?❞

Okay. That surely punched her right in the face. She gaped at him.
❝Why would you say it like that?❞

❝Like what?❞

❝Like you actually love me?❞

❝Maybe I do?❞

❝Get out of my freaking face, Sage.❞

❝Why?❞ he gave her a pout. Her heart melted.
She wanted to punch him for messing around with her.

God, was this how he felt when she played around with him?

❝You're too confident, now.❞

❝How do you know I wasn't always confident?
I didn't know you so I couldn't be truly comfortable with you;
but now that I am, roof boy can be whoever he wants to be in front of you.❞

❝I seriously hate you.❞

❝Keep telling yourself that, sweetheart.❞

She was really going to punch him.
And when she did, she was going to enjoy it.
