A Note to Aspiring Poets

Just a quick word regarding offering up areas of improvement etc.... I often find it difficult to critique some areas of poetry such as punctuation and the rhythm and metre it creates as it is highly personal to the writer. Although it's typical in poetry that each line ends with a piece of punctuation, usually a comma or full stop, this is increasingly not the case within the contemporary style - so as ever it's very difficult to distinguish right or wrong. Each piece is highly individual to each writer so I am sure you can understand that it is hard to offer a critique that absorbs all areas of the poetry, what we may read may not be the same as how it is intended to be read by the poet. (After all, the original purpose of poetry was to be read aloud so this adds another layer to the challenge of critiquing work!!!).

Best wishes,
