"Adam, stop!" I giggled as his fingers ran all over my body. He knew I was ticklish, and he used it as an advantage, sort of like blackmail. Which, of course, was what he was doing at this very moment.
"You have to give it to me, T..." he continued to assault me mercilessly. The it he was referring to was the single last chocolate covered strawberry from our picnic, which I was currently holding out of his grasp.
And while Adam thought he had complete power over me, he was sadly mistaken. For I had a secret weapon of my own.
"Please, Adam," I gave him my best puppy dog eyes, sticking out my lower lip for emphasis. I saw him hesitate, and knew I had him. For the finishing touch, I pecked his lips sweetly, wrapping my arms around his waist.
"Well played, T, well played," Adam scowled, pulling my small frame into his lap. Grinning, I took a triumphant bite of the strawberry, then ended up giving the rest to him anyway. Wiping the sticky sweet juices from my lips, I snuggled against his warm chest, burying my head in the crook of his shoulder. The wind blew through the grass, tickling my ankles.
One of Adam's hands was planted on my hip, the other entangling itself in my hair. I let my eyes fall shut at the pleasure, humming with content. "I could stay here forever," Adam murmured as he pressed his lips to my forehead.
"Me too," I agreed, lifting me head to look at him. I could see love in his eyes; a feeling that overwhelmed me, just knowing it was I who put it there. Right here, right now, everything else seemed to float away. It was just the two of us. Sensing an intimate moment, Adam claimed it, kissing my lips softly. I could taste strawberry on his lips and smiled.
"I have something for you," he said when we broke apart. I watched him as he reached into his pocket, pulling out a small, purple, velvet box. He held it out to me, a flash of hope shining through his eyes. Quirking my eyebrows questioningly, I took the item from him, popping the lid open.
"Oh, Adam," I gasped upon revealing the spectacle inside. A beautiful golden and azure necklace lay on a cushioned base, a heart pendant dangling from the chain with a small, golden butterfly resting on top. I couldn't get over how amazing it was, or that he would give me a gift like this.
"Open it," he prompted. At first I was confused, until I realized it actuallydid open. It was a locket. A locket with Adam and my picture inside. It was from our first prom together.
"I love it," my voice cracked. Adam smiled and took the necklace, clipping it around my neck. I couldn't hold it in anymore, the tears came rolling down. Adam wrapped his arms around me tightly, peppering kisses all over the top of my head.
"I love you so much, T," he said, cupping my cheek with his palm. I smiled and kissed him once more, with passion.
"I love you, too, Adam."
