We all know those books which have a plot twist that take you by surprise and truly blow your mind. Every writer wants to blow the minds of their readers, but creating an amazing yet realistic plot twist can have its challenges.
The first thing I should mention with plot twists is that they have to be believable within your story. If they are too crazy for your plot, readers may just be confused or feel like you've just stuck in the plot twist for no reason. And you have to sort of build up to the plot twist, subtly of course because you want it to be a surprise. Leave little hints in the chapters leading up to the plot twists, which will intrigue the readers but not let them know exactly what will happen.
Thinking of a plot twist can be hard, so if you're having trouble, imagine you're a reader of your book. What would be the one thing that would shock you most? What would blow your mind if you were reading your book? Plot twists should come naturally so don't force anything, it will come to you eventually and probably at a random time.
