Surprise!

Monroe's POV

The Next Day

After getting ready for the day and spending a few hours in my office it was finally time for my lunch date with Jesse. I have to say I'm really happy about reconnecting with him. He always was like a big brother to me growing up since I am an only child. Being 2 years younger than the guys was always hard but they included me in everything that they could.
I grabbed my keys off my desk walked past my assistant, Tori, who immediately started following me. I got to the elevator and turned towards her.
"Tori, take messages for all my calls unless they are really important have them sent to my cell. Sam's approved pictures are on my desk, so can you fax those over to him so he can send them to the printers?" As she wrote her notes down she nodded.
"Yes, Ms. Monroe I'll get right on that. Will you be back later?" Tori asked. I loved Tori to death, she was professional at work but a party girl outside of work. She's honestly one of my best girl friends I have.
"I should be back in 2 hours tops. I'm going to bring Rion back with me so he can 'help' out." I giggled at the thought. "I'm going to lunch with an old friend and I'll be back." I said getting on the elevator.
I got to my car rather quickly and drove off down the street to this mom and pop type restaurant that Jesse suggested. It was a cute small place that had real good food apparently. Once I got there I spotted Jesse at a booth it the back.
"Hey Jess!" I exclaimed as I got closer to the table. He looked up from his phone and smiled as he stood up.
"Hey Roe!" He said as we hugged. "How's your day going so far?" I laughed at how weird this conversation felt but I told him all about my day. We ordered our food and continued our talk.
"So how long do you have before you gotta go back to the studio?" I asked hoping for not a short time. "I want you to meet someone special to me." I got nervous waiting for an answer.
"Roe, calm down. I have an hour and a half until I have to be back. Is this special someone a guy?" He asked wiggling his eyebrows at me. "He's not the jealous type right? I don't want to deal with explaining how I'm pretty much your older brother." He exhaled dramatically which made me laugh.
"Well, yes he's a guy and no he's not the jealous type!" I said through my laughter. He's really going to be in for a shock of his life.
"When I meeting him then? Oh the embarrassing stories I have for him!" Jesse said mischievously while rubbing his hands together. Oh no.
"You'll want to rethink that when you meet him. Come on we can go pick him up right now." I said getting up and putting money on the table. Jesse got up to and gave me back my money and put his own down. "Jess."
"Nope don't want to hear it. I'm paying and that's final." He said while putting his arm around me and walking me out of the restaurant towards the cars. "Now which one is yours?"
"That one." I said pointing to the BMW m3. "The blue one." As we walked towards it Jesse laughed. "What are you laughing at?" I smiled up at him.
"I just thought you would have a classic car not a brand spanking new one!" He said while trying to contain his laughter.
"The classic is at home, thank you very much!" I laughed at him and unlocked the car. I got in while he stood there speechless. "Are you getting in? I'm gonna be late!" He got in the car and we took off to pick up my special guy.
I started to get nervous as we got closer to our destination. I just hope everything will go smoothly and Jesse won't freak out on me. When we finally pulled up and parked and I stayed silent and Jesse looked confused.
"Roe, what are we doing outside of a school? Is your guy a teacher or something?" I nervously laughed and shook my head.
"Don't freak out, okay? Please don't freak out." I pleaded to him and he looked even more confused than before. "Jesse, I have-"
"Mom! Mom! Open up!" He started knocking on the window. Jesse's face turned into one of shock.
"Please don't freak. Please Jesse!" He just nodded as I opened my door and let my son in. "Hey bud! I want you to meet someone very special to me." He nodded at me and looked at Jesse. "Orion this is Jesse, Jesse this is Orion, my son."
"Woah! You're Jesse Carmichael from Maroon 5! Mom! You never told me you knew him!" Orion yelled while shaking Jesse's hand. Jesse was still speechless as he was figuring out what to say. "Can we go to the park for a little while before we go back to your work?"
"If it's alright with Jesse we can but if not we can go after I get off." I looked at Jesse and he looked deep in thought. "Jess, is that okay with you?"
"Huh? Oh yeah, sure we can go." Jesse looked back at Orion. "So Orion how old are you?"
"I'm 6! How old are you? How do you know my mom?" Orion asked from the back seat as he looked between Jesse and the passing scenery.
"I'm 27." Jesse looked at me and smiled. "Your mom and I were neighbors when we were teens and best friends. You should have seen your mom when she was a teen she was pretty cr-"
"Oh look we're here!" I interrupted Jesse while glaring at him. "Why don't you go play while we find a bench to sit down at, Ri?"
"Ok mom!" Orion took off running towards the playground. We found a bench near by and sat in silence for a few minutes. Every second that passed was more and more nerve wracking than the last waiting for Jesse to say something. We both were watching Orion play with a kid on the monkey bars.
"So you have a kid?" Jesse smiled and shook his head. "This is fucking crazy! I would have never guessed that you would have a kid! Wow!" He laughed a little then stopped abruptly. "Who's the dad? It's not Adam, is it?" He looked at me waiting for an answer.
"Yep! I have a son, it's a shock to everyone really. Um, his dad's name is Tyler but he's not in the picture, he didn't want to be." I stated while looking at my feet then back up to keep an eye on Orion.
"Aww Roe, I'm sorry." He pulled me in for a side hug and I leaned my head on his shoulder. "He seems like a great kid. You raised him well." I couldn't help but smile at the compliment.
I opened up to Jesse and told him everything about my short relationship with Tyler. The good and the bad, everything up until the last time I heard from him. My phone started ringing as I finished and I had to laugh as I checked the caller ID.
"Great. Sorry I have to take this." I pouted at him. He just nodded and watched Orion play on the rock wall. "Wes what happened?... Are you serious? Tell them that's how the shots are supposed to go... They know better than to argue with me... Ok well tell them I'm on my way and be prepared to take orders from my 5'5" ass... See you in like 20 hun, bye."
"Watch out miss boss lady!" Jesse laughed and I joined. "So we gotta cut this short?" He smiled at me and stood up. He held out his hand to pull me up.
"Unfortunately yeah we do, the job needs me." I looked towards the playground and waved Orion towards me. "Come on Ri! We gotta go!" I yelled in his direction. He came running and grabbed on to my hand as we walked back to the car.
The whole way back to drop Jesse off at the studio Orion was asking him questions about himself. It was nice to see Orion interact with an adult male and enjoy it. We were pulling up to the studio when Ri yelled for me.
"Mom! Can I stay with Jesse while you go deal with those models? Please, please, please!" I looked at Jesse who just smiled and shrugged and opened the car door waiting for a response. "I promise I'll be good and listen to Jesse." He gave me his best puppy dog face to try and convince me.
"I don't know, it's up to Jesse." I said looking at Jesse with a look that read 'you don't have to say yes'. He looked towards the studio and back at us.
