Elizabeth Schuyler divorced me.
It was finalized today.

As soon as she had read 'The Reynolds Pamphlet' Eliza decided to never return home with a request for a divorce.

I obliged.

Now it was just me, a ruined reputation, a dog, and an empty house.

It was disappointing for the first week, but after a month it got darker.

I found myself in the exact same position that I sat in before I cheated,
Wishing that Laurens was alive
Longing for Angelica
Missing my wife
But this time there was no Miss Maria Reynolds to walk into my life.

I imagined death, maybe even romanticized it. Is it worth it? What would happen? Would anyone care?

I already threw away my shot, so what comes next?

"Don't just give up your life because some little thing ruined it. Everyone gets a second chance, you've just gotta be willing to wait for it."

A voice echoed in my head.
It was right, but where did it come from?

Wait.

1780 A Winter's Ball.

Angelica... Eliza... and... Y/N...
Y/N. Yes!

Before I was approached by Angelica or introduced to Eliza, there was Y/N.

She wasn't of any status. Y/N just had some nice hair, fancy dresses, a pretty smile, top-notch brain, and plenty of friends. A social butterfly really, and a pleasure to be in her company.

I had been talking to John, and while expressing something, he motioned ever so slightly to the left. Naturally, my eyes followed and landed on Y/N.  I lost interest in John and stared the girl down. We made eye contact, and instead of rolling her eyes or glaring, she smiled and waved me over.

We began our introductions, but Y/N was the one that carried off the conversation.

Y/N told me that she was often invited to parties or balls just for presentation.

The way she talked to me was as if we met years ago. Not once did she ask about my status nor my family. I fell for her, but loving her was still so far off.
I can recall our last moments quite well...
Or is that because I wrote the entire scenario down?

"And I told him, 'Don't just give up your life because some little thing ruined it. Everyone gets a second chance, you've just gotta be willing to wait for it'."

"Did you take that cheater back?"

"No, I already gave him his second chance. I did talk him out of giving up and accepting death though. He never bothered me again."

"You say it like it's nothing!"

"I'm not one to flaunt my personal affairs."

"I beg to differ..."

"I can tell."

I scoffed before breaking into a laugh. She smiled before moving incredibly close to my face.
