It was a pretty relaxing day. Hamilton writing without stress, Jefferson signing papers, Washington scheduling meetings, Lafayette listening to interviews, Mulligan doing computer stuff.
And then there was me, stressed. I had finished filing papers long ago but I was still stressed.
Stressed on tinder.
Honestly, is there a single person on tinder that can handle a regular relationship instead of just a one night thing? God, what more could I ask for?

I swiped right on girls I liked, replied quickly to texts, met up, talked with them in a non suggestive way, and yet it all ended the same.

"So, Wanna F-"

"-Have you seen her yet?!"

Hercules burst into the filing room. The guy was even breaking a sweat.

"I... what?"

"The girl. In the lobby."

"What about her Herc? Is she in labor? Is she dying? I swear if you're making fun of someone I'll-"

"No! She's gorgeous!"

Well, that was unexpected.

"You ran up four floors just so you could tell me this? C'mon Herc, theres pretty girls everywhere and-"

"She's your type."

"Oh? I thought you said I have no type."

"That was in college, and that was a joke to see if you would cry."

"... thanks."

"No problem. Anyways, go check her out while you can. She's trying to get in the building but I've been stalling just so I could tell you."

"Hercules, help the poor girl. I'm not going down there."

The guy glared at me intensely, and I shrunk under his gaze.

"Go."

"No."

Hercules lunged forward, but instead of grabbing me, he grabbed my phone and ran.

I cursed under my breath and chased after him

~

After running down four flights of stairs, Hercules stopped in front of the lobby. I snatched my phone back, but it was too late.

"I'm back miss." Hercules called out to her

"Sir, can I go inside now?"

"Yeah, my friend John will lead you there."

Hercules pushed me forward and I sent him an angry glare before turning to the girl.
And... well... maybe Herc was right.

She stood in the middle of the lobby, holding a large box and wearing an angry expression on her face. But regardless, she was pretty and looked my type

This is it, this is the one.

I took a step forward to greet her, but completely forgot about the little step separating the halls and the lobby, and fell.
Yikes.

The girl gasped and set down the box, rushing over to me.

"Oh my god, hi! Are you okay?"

"Fine, great, amazing, awesome, wow, I'm James Lawrence- I mean John Laurens."

The girl laughed.
"Y/N Hamilton. Looks like you literally fell for me, huh?"

"I sure did- oh! Er... Hamilton?"

"Yes, we're-"

Related! Dang, I didn't know Alex had a cousin!

"Oh! I see! Nice to meet you Y/N. what brings you here?"

"Just delivering this package that showed up at the house, I think it's important..."

"Probably is. Here, I'll deliver it for you. Go home and relax."

Y/N chuckled
"What a gentleman! Tell Alex I said 'Hi'"

"Will do, Y/N. Will do."

~

I burst into Alexander's office.

"Alex, man, who's your cousin?! I wanna get to know her better, if you know what I mean."

Alex nearly fell out of his chair at my sudden appearance.
"Im sorry, Who?"

"Y/N Hamilton. She just came in with this package."

Alex opened his mouth to object but I stopped him. I know this part, He's going to object because he doesn't want me to date his cousin. But I'll show him that I'm worth it.

"Please, Alex! She's my type! Intelligent eyes in a hunger pang frame— that's my type— and when she said "Hi" I forgot my dang name. She set my heart aflame every part aflame-"

"Hunger-pang frame?"

"Maybe not that but still! She's hot!"

"- She's my wife."

I felt like a knife stabbed me and ripped my heart apart.

"O-oh... I didn't know, sorry man."

Alex laughed and put a hand on my shoulder

"It's alright. No hard feelings."

He took the package out of my hands and looked at the labeling.
"Oh! It's my new spinny chair. Just in time! Thanks John."

"Y-yeah, don't mention it!"

He winked at me and left the room.
I waited for him to go down the stairs before I spoke again.

"Damn you, Alexander!"
I cursed him, anger rising above everything.
"She was perfect and my type! I would've- oh I should've- ugh!"

I took a sharp inhale and closed my eyes.

"Don't... get... angry, John. It's not his fault. He just-"

"Okay, sorry for getting you all exited but... John, you spoke to her one time. Stop being so dramatic."

My eyes cracked open and I spun around awkwardly, my senses coming back to me.

"Stop eavesdropping, Hercules."

"You're loud."

"You're annoying. Wanna go get drinks after work to celebrate being single?"

"Hell yes."
