The next day, the two had slept in very, very late for obvious reasons. It was about one in the afternoon when Loki's eyes fluttered open. At first he hadn't remembered what occured that night and he was met with a pang of grief. But, as he looked to his side, Sif was cuddled firmly against him, still sleeping.
She looked so peaceful, her face was completely relaxed and her body wasn't the least bit tense- a rare occurance. After the battle of Jotunheim, she had left with severe anxiety that nobody except her seemed to know about. But, Loki noticed almost quicker than Sif having been through something like that before.
He couldn't help but grin at the thought of her curled up in his arms, in his bed. Nothing had happened other than cuddling of course, but the thought of Sif sleeping in his bedroom gave him a surprising amount of satisfaction alone. Then the memory of her kissing his cheek before she drifted off to sleep came to him, causing his grin to only grow wider.
Maybe it wasn't a kiss on the lips that he so longed for, but it was something. And he wasn't even supposed to know it had happened! As she slept, her chest rising and falling to her breathing pattern, he moved a stray piece of hair from her forehead.
She truly was beautiful, even in her most stressed moment she looked astonishing. But now, as she slept peacefully with her body pressed against his, he couldn't help but think that she was that much more gorgeous.
They were so close to each other that he could really admire her features. She had long eyelashes that seemed as if they could just fly away if she batted them enough, a small freckle next to her nose - her little nose that was perfectly proportionate to her face -, her strong cheekbones; he found himself getting a little carried away but he couldn't help it. The sight of her left him breathless and he couldn't really believe that she was here with him.
She began to squirm a little, stretching just the slightest and letting out a small groan that caused Loki's cheeks to turn pink. He tried ignoring the thought that had popped in his head at that moment, becoming very interested in the blanket that they were sharing. But, that only made it worse and he was desperately trying to think of a distraction.
So he started doing math.
5+5=10, 10+10=20, 1/2 of 10 is 5....
He was starting to calm down but Sif ended up moving her leg so it rested on top of his. He almost let out a noise that wouldn't have been to appropraite at the moment because of the pleasant interruption to his math problem, only now wanting to yelp because her leg was intertwined with his own and the thoughts that came with that were madness.
ONE THOUSAND TIMES TWO IS TWO THOUSAND PLUS FIFTY IS TWO THOUSAND FIFTY - OH MY GOD HER LEG IS MOVING - I MEAN FIFTY. FIFTY IS HALF OF ONE HUNDRED. IT IS ALSO A QUARTER OF - OH GOD - A QUARTER OF TWO HUND- OH FOR GOD'S SAKE!
He was trying to keep his thoughts clean, but as you can see, being a man (with certain needs), that proved to be quite challenging. Especially since the woman he had a lot of lust for was currenty wrapped in his arms, her leg in between his, and had just moaned. Not a perverted moan, more of a 'I just stretched and that was nice' moan, but they all really sounded about the same.
Yet all he could grab from that thought was 'that was nice' moan. He wanted a 'that was nice' moan- no he didn't he needed to calm down and think happy PG thoughts.
At that moment, Loki clenching his teeth and his hand in fists with white knuckles, Sif woke up. She nuzzled into him, causing him to bite his lip and close his eyes tightly as if he could just will the situation away, and then her sleep filled eyes fluttered open.
After a few moments of letting the sleep leave her, she saw Loki's expression along with their position. Raising an eyebrow, she started to chuckle.
"I move a lot in my sleep... Sorry." She stated, untangling herself from him and sitting up.
"I noticed." He sputtered, letting out the breath he seemed to have been holding in.
She let out a yawn, pretending not to notice Loki nonchalantly place a pillow on his lap and lean on it with his elbow as if it was a normal sitting position. Normally, he wouldn't have cared in the least and could have strutted around his house without caring- but this was Sif. And he had to be more polite in front of her to A) prevent from getting severely embarrassed and B) not lose her again.
She could feel herself about to laugh so she quickly got up, excusing herself to the bathroom. As the door shut behind her, Loki let out a sigh of relief. That woman would be the death of him.
**************
After the both of them had showered and gotten ready for the rest of their day, they decided on getting a bite to eat and then either visiting Frigga or going to the arena.
So, the two of them marched towards the dining hall side by side. Not surprisingly, The Warriors Three sat at their table sharing tales of war (that they must have repeated hundreds of times) and eating what was left over from lunch. They had a late day of training today so Sif figured she would bump into them.
Fandral's face brightened up as he saw the two, beckoning them over to sit. They were greeted with smiles and a plate full of food, along with many drinks. Loki and Sif sat beside each other looking more refreshed than they had in awhile. Everybody noticed the change, even Hogun said something which rarely happened.
"The both of you seem much happier today compared to as of late. Where have you been?" He asked, his accent still pretty thick.
"Sleeping." They answered at the same time, getting a raised eyebrow from Fandral.
"No, not like that." Loki scolded, giving his friend a hard look. Fandral just nodded as he bite off of his roll. Sif was blushing but attempted to hide it behind her glass as she took a sip.
Volstagg was too busy munching away to care much about if they had slept together or not, the turkey was even more delicious than it normally was! The seasoning- oh so perfect with the right amount of cris- Fandral pulled him out of his dream like state, waving his hand in front of his face.
"Big fella, pass me the salt." He gave him a weird look, but got his salt nontheless.
The rest of the meal went smoothly as there wasn't any awkward questions or talk of couples. Truthfully, neither Sif nor Loki knew what they were. They both knew they had feelings for each other, but it wasn't like they had even kissed yet. Besides the fact that they slept in the same bed which would usually qualify for something, but nothing happened.
Loki seemed to grow more determined to change that as time went on.
As Sif got up and nodded a goodbye to their companions, Loki stared at her for a moment longer than he should have all the time thinking: I will get the girl.
And for once, his luck seemed to be in his favor.
