9 | Procedure

CHAPTER NINE
(ix. procedure)

DUE TO THE fact that nobody had ever actually been cleared by Cassie to have the procedure she didn't know what happened, but luckily Dr. Josef invited her to watch.

Baron had asked her to meet the two first and try and understand them first and get to know them -- seeing as she'd be training them, it made sense.

Cassie decided to visit the girl first, having not spoken to a girl her age in three years. They were being kept in rooms similar to hers before the procedure so she was pretty close by. She gently knocked on so as not to scare the girl inside. Baron was escorting her there in case the girl had a strange reaction, which majorly confused Cassie but she agreed anyway.

"Come in." A female voice invited from inside, it was an accent Cassie had never heard before.

"Ms. Maximoff, this is Cassandra. She's come to keep you company before your operation." He said with barely any emotion.

"Hello." She greeted as she stepped inside.

"Hello," the girl started, "please - um - sit down."

Cassie smiled politely and sat on the edge of her bed, keeping a small distance from her. "I'll leave you to it." Baron said and shut the door.

  "It's Cassie -- not Cassandra." She started, "what's your name, or do you want me to call you 'Ms. Maximoff.'?" Cassie joked imitating Struckers accent and earning a giggle from the girl.

"No, you can call me Wanda." She smiled, warming up a bit more to the girl, "is he your father?" She inquired.

"Who? Strucker? No, my dad is dead." She stated.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Is that why you're here?" She asked.

"No. I volunteered, just like you -- but a few years ago, I went through the procedure. It shouldn't hurt much." She assured.

"What is your enhancement?"

"Um, I can see -- well I get visions of the future." She shrugged as if it was nothing.

"That's so cool!" She laughed.

"Not as cool as your power." Cassie sighed a little.

"You know my enhancement?" Wanda grinned, "what is it?"

"But that would ruin the surprise!" Cassie exclaimed, "but I can tell you - er - what is his name again, Peter? Pedro?" Cassie stuttered.

"It's Pietro. He's my twin." Wanda laughed at her mistake.

"Oh, well he can run, like really fast. He literally becomes a blur, like a quick blue blur, which is strange because his hair is more silver. Should it not be a quick silver blur? Oh my god! Quick silver! Quicksilver!" Cassie squealed.

"What? Pietro's hair is not silver?" Wanda asked confused at her rambles but still smiling.

"Yes but it will be and it's his superhero name! Don't worry, I'll think of yours." Cassie nodded.

"Right." Wanda nodded, laughing slightly at her bubbly personality.

"So where are you from Wanda?" Cassie asked.

"Sokovia." She stated as if it was obvious.

"I've never been there, is it nice?" Cassie inquired.

"You're here right now?" Wanda awkwardly stated.

"Oh. Really? I guess it's a bit snowy then." Cassie giggled, "I've never been outside the facilities premises."

"That's... strange." Wanda said, confusion crossing her face.

The door opened revealing Strucker a strange look on his face, "come Cassandra, you have to meet the other while she has her operation." He ushered.

"He's called Pietro and she's Wanda -- they're twins. Good luck Wanda, I know you'll be great." Cassie smiled whilst exiting the room.

"Mr. Maximoff this is Cassandra--"

"Cassie." She corrected.

"Yes, well, she's come to keep you company until your procedure." He said in the same flat tone before walking out.

"Hi." She smiled slightly walking further into the room. Pietro immediately stood up,

"Where's my sister?" He asked her with urgency.

"It's okay, it's okay -- she's having the procedure right now." She calmed.

He nodded sitting down, she followed suit and sighed considering the way it was going so far, "She'll be okay."

"How do you know?" He snapped, "sorry I'm just worried."

"It's fine, I wish I had someone like you to look out for me when I went through it." Cassie sighed.

"you've been through it?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Well I'm not just here to look pretty." She replied sarcastically.

"You sure?" He chuckled.

"If I didn't know any better Pietro, I'd say you're flirting with me." Cassie laughed lightly with him.

"If I didn't know any better Cas, I'd say you're enjoying it." He retorted.

"Touché, Maximoff." She grinned.

"So why did you--" he started but was cut off by Baron storming into the room.

"Baron?"

"Cassie, we need to go." He ordered grabbing her arm.

"Why? What's happening?" She questioned, suddenly worried.

"We need to go. Now!" He yelled, Cassie mouthed 'sorry' to a nervous looking Pietro.

"Wait. What's happening?!" She snapped pulling her arm from Barons grip.

"Dr. Josef, the girl harmed him when she awoke." He said.

"Who, Wanda? Is he okay. Is she okay?" Cassie stammered.

"Yes. This is amazing! She's not even had any training and she's already so powerful." He smirked maliciously which made Cassie grimace.

"Where is she?"

"In the observation room." He answered.

"What the hell is an observation room?"
