Though I lay on the most comfortable bed ever, I couldn't sleep, there was so much going through my mind I couldn't quieten it down.

What the hell am I doing here, obvious I'm not wanted so why make everyone suffer, why can't I just leave I mean I saved his life he got me out of jail, so we should be quits and when he comes out of hospital, I'll put this to him.

My stomach gave a low growl, nothing new there, but there was food in this house and as suit man said I would be fed and watered.

Jumping out of bed I wriggled into the warm robe and crossed to the door, gentley easing it open I listened for any signs of activity, nothing.

I tiptoed down the hallway and stealthily down the stairs and as I neared the bottom a figure stepped out of the shadows and stood on the bottom step.

"Going somewhere low life" he smirked.

flicking on the hallway lights.

Then his eyes went wide as he raked them over my body making me tingle.

Shit no way was I going to be turned on by this guy.

"Nah, it doesn't matter" as I turned to go back up.

"I bet you're hungry, thought you would come down and steal our food low life"

I just shrugged and went back upstairs.

"Hey low life I bet you come down for breakfast in the morning"

I bet I don't

Going back into my room I decided sleep wasn't going to happen yet, so I went to the window and pushed it wide open stepping out onto the veranda, as I leant on the guard rail I closed my eyes and gained some solace listening to the night noises, I had grown to love.

I don't know how long I stood there but soon the grey light of dawn appeared in the sky and I wandered back inside shutting out the cool morning breeze and made my way to the bathroom.

After a long soak in the bath, which was pure heaven I dressed in my tatty clothes that were mainly dry and went back out on the veranda, plonking down in one of the chairs and resting my head back against the wall, with the early morning sun warning my face, I drifted off in a restless sleep.

Only to be woken a short time later by a hammering on my door.

"Hey low life you better come and eat your breakfast now, else you'll stave to death"

"No thanks I'm good"

Then the hard tone changed and a much softer voice spoke.

"Come on you need to eat, else you'll be ill"

Taking this as a sign that he was trying to get me to prove him right, I still declined his offer.

After a few more failed attempts to get me out he gave up and must have gone downstairs.

Shut in my room I could hear voices and movement throughout the house, but at least no one bothered me, I quenched my thirst with water from the bathroom, but food was a different matter.

So I hatched a plan and do what I do best, the veranda allowed access to well established climbing plants that gave me the opportunity to shimmy down and enter the woods at the back of the mansion unseen.

Having to depend on berries as a means of survival, I had become proficient in knowing what was good and what to avoid and soon had a variety in my hand to feed my immediate hunger.

When I had eaten enough to quell the hunger pangs but not to many to make me ill, I headed back towards the mansion and my personal stairway to my room.

And I walked right into absolute bedlam, emerging on to the back lawn, I couldn't help but notice security rushing about all over the place, had there been a security breach, was the place on fire.

Forgetting my original plan of climbing back up the vines, I stood in the middle of the grass surveying the scene, it wasn't till a security guard spotted me that it became clear what all the fuss was about, they were looking for me.

As three or four security came rushing over, the thought of turning and running crossed my mind briefly, but the ease with which they caught me before ruled that out as an option, so I stood and waited till they reached me and herded me back to the house through a back door that led into a huge kitchen.

"Where the hell have you been" greeted me as I was unceremoniously dumped onto a kitchen stool with two security either side of me.

"Oh sorry your talking to me the low life" I snapped back.

His face and eyes flashed with a quick unreadable emotion before his cold self returned.

"You need to eat! here" he shoved a bowl of cereals towards me.

"No thanks" and with that I shoved it back towards him.

A look of shock appeared briefly before he shoved the bowl back at me.

"Eat! I have been told to feed you, so there you go low life" He commanded.

"No!" And the bowl was returned.

"Are you always this stubborn?"

"It's the way we low lifes are, the food doesn't taste as nice unless you steal it" I countered.

"I could force you to eat it"

"You could try, but it would take more manpower than you currently have here and think of all the damage you would have to explain away, now if have finished being a jerk I would like to go to my room"

With that I stood and moved towards the door, where one of the security guys blocked my way, tilting my head back I glared at him, I was sick and tired of these macho males and their high and mighty attitude.

" Do you want to be nursing sore male parts or bandaging all those scratch marks I'm going to inflict on you" I growled.

I could see though the security guard stood firm the wariness flicker across his face wondering if I was serious or not.

"Well" I let my arms fall to my side and clenched my fists, I heard a deep sigh from behind me and there must have been a signal passed as the guard moved to one side.

"You can't stay locked up in your room all day you know it's unhealthy"

I turned as I reached the doorway and smirked.

"Wanna bet" I couldn't help but chuckle to myself as I made my way to the stairs, only to hear that annoying voice again.

"Yer, I bet you'll come down sooner or later for food"

"Oh you don't know much about low lifes do you, we would rather starve than accept a handout from some arrogant snobby jerk"

And on that note I retreated back to my bedroom.
