chapter 23: Shadows settle

The human had lost most of their body. They didn't try to stop it either. Their eyes were shut, refusing to open them and see them-self die.

But what the human didn't see it that they weren't fading anymore. Something was stopping them from being erased.

And they slowly were being brought back into reality.

(Normal pov)

You started to feel dizzy. But yet, you just thought it was you being erased. But strangely you recognized this feeling.

Out of desperation you looked.
Everything was white now. You had all of your body back.

And you could see the tiniest blue light in the distance. You stood up. And without hesitation sprinted at the opening.

The closer you got, the brighter it was getting. You were almost there. And when your hand touched it.

Your eyes opened.
There was a sound of beeping. Like a heart monitor.
And you could feel a pair of hands on yours. Your vision was blurred. And it took a few blinks to even see clearly.

Everyone was there, everyone was asleep.

You felt tears in your eyes. You were alive. You could see them again!

You squeezed the hand on yours. It was mom. She slowly opened her eyes.

And when she saw your eyes open and looking into hers. It was like the first time you'd ever seen her. Her eyes grew wide and teary.

"M-my child." She said while putting her hand over her mouth and crying.

Her crying woke up Papyrus. Who practically screamed when he saw you.

That ended up walking everyone up, and as soon as they noticed you. They all rushed over into a group hug.

When they pulled away, you went to say something, but all that came out was a raspy breath.

You looked in shock at mom. She looked down. And pointed to sans slowly, her hand quivering at the same time.

You turned your head to him.

"Kid. You don't wanna know how long you were out, so I'm gonna save you the details. If I didn't do this, you would have died permanently."

He closed his eyes.

"Just. Don't freak out about this Ok?" He opened his eyes and looked at you.

You nodded, not attempting to speak.

"Someone had to absorb your soul, and nobody here wanted that kind of power, but in order to at least help you, I did it. I became 'god like' and was able to open the void... But while doing that, my soul fractured. Brought my HP down a lot, and your soul... In order to I guess help mine kinda... Merged? If that's the right word. But there wasn't a way to separate my soul from yours, so instead... We took out the DT from your soul, and Alphys made you a makeshift one, just until there's a way to, well. Ya know."

You looked at him, in utter shock.
But instead of freaking out... You smiled in a way of saying thank you.

You didn't care that you didn't have your soul, you were just happy that you were alive.

About a week had passed, you were still in the hospital for treatment, but in the meantime that gave you time to learn sign language.

Considering you couldn't speak anymore. The doctors said you had in a coma, never specified how long though. But they said that medication had made your voice go away.

They don't have an exact time for when your voice will come back, but you just hope it's soon.

Today is also the day sans, paps, mom, Chara, and Asriel are gonna visit, so you've been preparing yourself.

A few minutes had passed before the door opened and they all showed up.

*Hey guys" you signed while smiling.

They either waved or said hi back.

*So uh. A few minutes ago I was reading a book about antigravity, it's impossible to put down". You smiled at your pun.

And sans did as well. As for Pap, he sighed. Not even a minute and a pun had been made.

New record huh.

So yes hello! Uh. How to say this. I have started planning new ways on writing this story. It will have more details, and pov's.

As for what happened this chapter...Hehehe... Welp. Sorry.
But before anyone thinks this story is almost over, no, not yet. 50 chapters is my goal. And maybe I'll make a book about the first time you fell...But I don't know. Depending on how this story ends, it may be the last book if the promise series. But I will make other Undertale books, AU's also.
