Kehlani watched Dyme walk home everyday.
She didn't mean to stalk or scare.
She just really loved to watch Dyme walk home.
Everyday.
She never missed a day.
A missed day was like a day without breathing for Kehlani.
No matter the weather.
Rain.
Shine.
Wind.
Or thunder.
Dyme was always strolling, and Kehlani was always just...watching, from a great distance.

Kehlani just knew that if Dyme found out about her strange behavior,
She would surely call the police.
Maybe even alert the neighbors.
So, she kept a great distance from Dyme while watching her walk home.
For fear that one day she would just be gone.
Or that she wouldn't be able to watch her anymore.
Kehlani always feared that one day Dyme would no longer stroll past.
But everyday, Dyme would prove her wrong by walking along the pavement, but always careful not to walk too fast.

Some might find it silly of Kehlani to just watch someone simply do nothing but stroll.
To Kehlani however, it was like watching gold strut past her eyes.
Dyme was always lost in her own world.
She knew that she lived in the world, but she was never of it.
She was always 10 steps above the rest.
That's why Kehlani watches her the way she does.
Her intelligence, her beauty, her grace.
They all shined through to Kehlani whenever Dyme made an entrance to any place.

It has never once crossed her mind to pursue Dyme, or even look directly into her face.
She would never want to disrupt the flow of her pace.
She decided to just admire from a far.
Undetected.
Unsuspected.

Or so she thought.

As it turns out, Dyme walks past Kehlani's distant face purposely everyday.
In the hopes that she will one day come from behind her hiding bush, greet her with a smile, and her dimples showing deep and proud.
It hasn't happened yet, but she holds out hope.
Everyday.

Dyme could walk on any other street to get to her house.
But she chooses to walk the long way, past Kehlani's hiding bush.
To subliminally let her know, she'd always be there for Kehlani to see.
And sure enough, she'd see out of the corner of her eye, a sweet Kehlani beaming with rosy red cheeks filled with uncontainable glee.

It warmed Dyme's heart.
Walking for Kehlani was a pleasure.
She would sometimes lay awake at night and wonder,
Why won't she speak to me? I know she thinks lovely. Why won't she just call out to me?
It took Dyme some time to realize that maybe Kehlani was just really shy.
So she took it upon herself to one day, when the timing was right, say hi.

It was a Friday.
Dyme's usual walking time.
Kehlani placed herself perfectly behind her hiding bush.
Awaiting the grace and beauty that overtakes her eyes and her headspace.

But today was no usual day.
Dyme stopped suddenly in her tracks.
She looked forward.
The she turned around to look back.
Her grace and her beauty stood right in place with her.
But Kehlani was so confused.
Is she looking for someone else? Is there something else that she's trying to do?
The shy girl in the hiding bush wondered.

Then Dyme did something that Kehlani just couldn't believe.
She headed straight for her hiding bush.
Oh no, Kehlani panicked silently, I've been spotted?
Before she even had the chance to think about the rest, Dyme snatched Kehlani out of the bush.
Exposing her to the street.

There is where the girls stood.
In awe of each other as if they were some sort of extraterrestrial beings.

"Hi," Dyme smiled warmly at Kehlani, letting her know that it was okay to smile back and that she wasn't mad.

"Hi," Kehlani said smiling with her dimples caving in deep.

"How did you know about my bush?" She questioned Dyme a bit further.

"It's quite obvious considering you chose to hide behind the smallest bush on the street. I could see your bun poking out of the top of the bush, but relax because I don't think you're a creep."

Kehlani sighed with relief.

"Well then," she said, "can I walk you home? Half way at least?"

"You can walk me right up to my front door," Dyme said, "you've earned that at least."
