Chapter five

Our soft clicks could be heard pounding against the pavement.

It was sun down, and we hadn't reached my house yet.

Our silence was nearly deafening. I looked around at all of my surroundings that I knew all too well.

I could smell it, the sky was damp overhead.

Then, I felt a cool droplet on the tip of my nose.

Sollux glanced at me for a moment.

"Diid you feel that?"

"Uhhhhhhh...We should probably run."

"You're probably riight."

Sollux grabbed my hand as we began running.

Light droplets grew heavier

The drizzle could be heard as we splashed in the growing puddles.

Fucken hell.

We came to the three way intersection

"Whiich way?"

"Uhh...."

I made an 'L' with my left hand to remember my right from left

Which I often forgot

"What the fuck....How do you not know your diirectiion2?"

"Sorry, um go right."

The rain soon picked up to a full downpour.

"Shit!"

"2hiit!"

We yelled in unison

Sollux started running faster as I stumbled a few times behind him

"It's this one!"

I yelled and pointed to a generic manilla colored house, nearly invisible in darkness, and strong humidity.

As we raced toward the house, our breath became visible.

My clothes were drenched in rain

We soon reached the door as I fumbled in my wet bookbag for my keys.

Finding them, I quickly stuck it in the keyhole and turned them

I motioned for Sollux to come inside and so he did.

Slamming the door behind me, I let out a long groan.

Luckily it seemed nobody was home yet.

And luckily again, nobody would be coming, since it was raining

I silently thanked the world for such luck

I turned my head to Sollux

His clothes were pretty wet.

"I'll be right back"

I hurried to my room, closing the door behind me.

I found a black camisole and some cute patterned leggings that I decided to throw on after taking off my soggy clothes.

I left my room and went back into the living room to see Sollux...Shirtless??!

My face instantly heated.

I was about to scream, when my mom walked out of the kitchen

"Oh hey (y/n), I hope you don't mind, I put his clothes in the dryer"

I noticed this as I saw Sollux was wearing one of my dad's old pairs of shorts

"Mom..."

"It's okay sweetie! I'm so glad you found yourself a boyfriend!!"

"MOM..."

Sollux proceeded to snicker, I passed him a cold glare, and he instantly stopped

My mom just continued to smile and walked back to her room

The sounds of the dryer were faint, but still there

Why is he still here?

Wait.

Wait.....

"Sollux...Do you have project M?...."

"Uhh...."

Oh my fucking..

"II thiink II dropped iit whiile we were runniing..."

I walked over and plopped onto the couch next to Sollux

"Damn."

I wanted to scream.

But I didn't

"IIm 2orry honey bee"

Sollux rest his head on my shoulder

His hair was still damp, sending slight chills down my spine

Not creepy, cold chills though

Chills filled with pleasure

I almost wanted to tell him how much I hate him, and wanted him away from me, or tell him to get out of my house, out of my life, and never come back

But I didn't.

I couldn't

Because some secret part of me actually didn't hate him, I really don't want him away from me, more so, closer.

Some part of me wanted to know him just as well as I know technology.

So, I didn't tell him not to call me 'honey bee'

And I didn't tell him to get the hell off of me

Instead, I sat.

I melted into the warmth of him, against me

I almost didn't notice that he was talking, while I was lost in thoughts.

"IIm 2o 2tupiid. II wiill make iit up two you, II know how much that meant two you."

"What?"

I continued,"it's fine"

Sollux lifted his head from my shoulder, and looked at me with a face full of confusion

"Um..Why are you beiing niice two me?"

I struck him with a glare, not of anger, but of hierarchy of some sort.

I held back a grin as I spoke

"I'm always nice, you just never look at the bigger picture."

Sollux smirked for a moment as if he knew what a lie I just told

There was silence

"2o II gue22 ii can't go home toniight."

"Unfortunately."

"Rude. Anyway, do you wanna watch a moviie then?"

"Sure."

"2peciific tiitle2?"

"I dunno, check Netflix"
