Braelin's POV

"Psst Braelin," Dylan whisper-yelled poking me but I paid him no mind as I finished my art. We were in Art 101 which happened to be one of my favorite classes in this horrible school and I was working on my new masterpiece. "Braelin."

"What's up Dylan?" I asked as I cleaned my brush.

"Why aren't you talking to Cameron? I was half convinced you two were going to end up together but now I'm not so sure."

"I just don't want to deal with his girlfriend." Or my feelings, but I kept that part to myself.

"Fair enough but you and Cameron were really close and you shouldn't let that annoying princess break up your friendship," he said and I couldn't help but raise my eyebrow curiously. Since when was Dylan wise?

"I'll keep that in mind."

"Good, now I have a more important question."

"Shoot."

"Is Layla single?" He asked and I couldn't help the smile that was creeping up on my face.

"Why?"

"Oh come on don't make me say it," he groaned and I laughed at how overworked he was getting. He must really have a thing for Layla. Matter of fact I hadn't seen him chasing after girls recently or even using his corny pickup lines on me for practice.

"You like her don't you?"

"What? No way. Do you think she was serious about that whole not dating white guys thing?" He asked before groaning in annoyance. "What the hell is wrong with me?"

"You got it bad, Dylan, it happens to the best of us," I told him patting his shoulder before the bell rung signaling the end of class. Sighing, I packed up my stuff and headed to my locker to grab my gym clothes while Dylan followed behind me looking for more information.

"I just don't get her you know, I mean one minute everything is great between us at the party but when I ask for her number she says 'she doesn't give out her number on the first meeting. If we see each other again then ask me.' What kind of bullshit is that?" He asked frustrated.

"That's one of Layla's ways to keep guys that she's interested in interested in her so if she said that then she may just like you," I told him slamming my locker shut before rushing down the hallway that leads to the gym which happened to be another class I had with Dylan.

"Seriously?"

"Yup."

"When will she be back in town?"

"Next weekend for my birthday pool party, which reminds me," I grabbed an invitation out of my bag and handed it to him. "You're invited. Presents are mandatory and no I am not joking," I said and he laughed before pulling me in for a hug.

"Thank you. I owe you one."

"Not yet," pulling out a pad of paper, I wrote something on it before handing it to Dylan. "That's her number, now you owe me one."

"Thank you!" He pulled me in for another hug and I laughed before messing up his hair a bit.

"Don't worry about it but if you play with my friend's heart I'll kill you and no I am not joking," I said completely serious and he nodded before walking me into the gym.

"Don't worry I told the exact same thing to Cameron when he asked about you." Running into the gym, Dylan left me standing at the entrance completely in shock. He wasn't serious, was he? Of course, he wasn't he was just messing with me. I entered the girls change room and quickly changed into the required uniform which was blue shorts and a white tee that clung to my body like second skin.

Grabbing a few of the invitations from my bag, I headed out and took my spot beside Selena and started stretching.

"Still ignoring Cameron?" She asked pulling her right arm over her head.

"Yup but not for long, I decided to invite him to my party," I told her and she nodded.

"Interesting approach. Ignore him and leave him hungry for you and then casually invite him to your party where you seduce him. I like it."

"That is not what I'm doing."

"Oh really? You're inviting my brother, who has the total hots for you, to a pool party where he'll see you half naked in a bikini. You're right you're not seducing him, you're trying to give him a heart attack," she said with a laugh before switching to the other arm.

"Maybe I shouldn't invite him then."

"Oh come on I'm joking and besides you know you want to see him half naked too," she said wiggling her eyebrows and I couldn't help but laugh. She was too much like Layla.

"I plead the fifth."

"I knew it!"

"Knew what?" A new voice spoke that had goosebumps running down my arms. I looked up and a familiar set of sea blue eyes met mine full on.

"Hey," I said with a smile and I could've sworn he looked shocked that I actually said something to him rather than flee the room but I didn't blame him.

"Hey, how have you been?"

"Never better. Which reminds me," I handed him his invitation hoping I didn't look too nervous before continuing, "No present, no entry and I am not playing."

"Not even for me?" He asked faking hurt and I nodded unable to hold my smile in. Things were finally getting back to normal.

"Sorry blue eyes but not even for you," he grinned at the nickname and I could feel the butterflies rising in my stomach. Braelin do not start falling for him, he has a girlfriend.

"And here's one for Stacey," I said before I could even realize what was coming out of my mouth.

"What?" Cameron and Selena asked shocked and I shrugged while I mentally smacked myself.

"I know she and I haven't exactly been on the greatest of terms but I don't want to go through my entire year with a rival so consider this a peace offering," I lied but it sure sounded a lot better than I can't control myself around you and if she isn't around then I may just start falling for you more than I already have and I can't afford for that to happen.

"That's very um.. nice of you," Cameron said taking the invitation and I swore I noticed a look of annoyance in his eyes. Did he not want me to invite his girlfriend? But before I could study it further it was gone.

"Well I think this is the dumbest idea you have ever had," Selena threw in before shaking her head. "This party is going to be very interesting."

Yes, it was and that's what I was afraid of...
