It was the next day, and the young photographer was at school, bored out of her mind.
She was leaned against a locker, waiting for Veronica put her books away. She noticed Betty, who was across the hall, take a deep breath.
"What you said," Betty began, "about Archie... Sometimes it's hard to admit things to yourself."
The blonde girl shrugged as she continued, "My mother is crazy. The boy I like doesn't like me back,"
"He may not be crushing on you," Veronica said as she stepped closer to Betty, "but he does love you."
"And," added Alice, "he's legit miserable without you, if it's any consolation."
"My mom says sometimes a friend is better than a boyfriend," Veronica told Betty, "Maybe this is one of those times."
And then, the blonde girl smiled.
