Chapter 9: Atlanta (Carter Edwards III)

I knew we were good. But, not good enough for Atlanta. Atlanta was Joel's military headquarters. Anything that went to Joel, went to them first. As usual we planned a night attack. We were going to hit them hard from all angles. We went in with 200 men. We called in 100 more later that night. By sunrise it was about 50 men fighting 100. By noon it was 25 fighting 75. At three o'clock that afternoon I called for a retereat. We lost that first battle.

We re-grouped in Athens. Taking 350 troops we traveled back to Atlanta. They were expecting us to attack at night again. But, we did the unexpexted. At high noon we stormed the front gates of Atlanta. It was a quick victory. Atlanta, already weakened by the previous battle, surrendered at one o'clock. We now had a grip on Georgia. And, once again we proudly rose the flag over Atlanta.
