Jane is descended from Belle (likely a great-granddaughter). They look alike and act similarly, both being intelligent and scholarly ladies and understanding beast-like men. It also helps that they both have older fathers who are as intelligent as they are wacky. Also Jane being a descendent instead of granddaughter, gives her family time to move to England. The nobility lost their seigneurial rights in 1789, making it the latest date Beauty can take place before. Also, near the end of Tarzan, Jane mentions Charles Darwin, who lived between 1809 and 1882, meaning Tarzan takes somewhere in that time period. Given the time gap between the movies, it's possible that Belle and Adam or their child moved to England after they lost their land.
