Amos Slade killed Bambi's mom. He took Copper on the hunting trip around late fall while Bambi's mom died in winter. Also,the only hint to when Bambi takes place is that the gun that shot his mother is a rifle, making it possible for Amos to be possible. Not to mention you can actually see two of the animals from Bambi in Fox.
