Chapter 12

Anyway enough of my blabbering, on with the story...

"I know your secret. I know what you are." He says calmly and seriously at the same time.

My mouth drops open in shock. He couldn't possibly know about my family and I could he? Nah it's probably something stupid and he's acting serious to piss me off. Act cool Luna. You can do this.

"What are you talking about? What secret?" I ask quite convincingly.

"Don't play dumb with me. I know you're a Praecantatio witch." He says. "I thought they only had three children but a few months ago I heard rumours about a fourth and I know it's you."

Act cool. Act cool. Act cool. I keep repeating this to my self.

"Okay you're crazy. What the fuck are you even talking about? Witches? We both know they don't exist. And what's a Praecantatio? Are you alright?" I reply in a confused and concerned voice, thinking my acting was pretty good.

"What if I told you I was magical too." He said.

This intrigued me. That would explain why I've been thinking he's different but it can't be true. I raised my brow at him.

"I'll prove it. Look in your front pocket there should be a fifty pence coin with a letter L on it." He says

I look in my pocket and there is; but that doesn't prove anything to me it's just a simple magic trick.

"Please, anyone could do that. All you had to have done is put a coin in my pocket, earlier, when I wasn't paying attention." I state with disbelief in my voice.

"I can tell you about your family. I'm guessing you haven't spoken in a while." He whispers as a last resort.

Okay now I have to know what the hell he's going on about. If he does know something about my family I have to get to the bottom of what he's talking about.

"You know about my family? How?" I ask.

"I already told you I'm not normal either.  I'm from the same place as you." He says irritated now.

I need to know what's going on.

I sigh in defeat "go on".

"Look, it's not safe to talk here. Just trust me. We can't talk about this so freely, come back to mine with me. Tell Stephanie where you're going if you don't trust me. Please I need your help but I can't talk here." He persisted.

I gape in awe at what he said for a few moments. He sounds very worried. I guess I have no choice but to trust him. I'll make him think I'm texting Steph just to be safe but I won't actually tell her because she'll probably get the wrong idea.

"Fine, let's go" I say sceptically "but let's make this quick. I still don't trust you."

"Fair enough, hopefully you will soon. I'm your ally in this, you're going to need my help and I'm going to need yours." Lucas says.

I very confused by this. What does he mean, my ally? Why will I need his help? He better explain all this soon, it's starting to piss me off.

Off we went to his apartment. God I hope everything is okay. I'm getting worried. What's going on? Deep breaths Luna, it's alright. It's probably a joke.

I thought I'd left magic behind me. Why is it following me? This is the last time I'm ever going to touch the subject. Lucas you better not be pulling some trick or I will rip your head off.

We're here. Lucas opens the door and steps inside. Here goes nothing, I enter too.

It looks like a normal apartment. No hidden trip wires or anything. Maybe he was being serious. Time to get some answers.

"Okay, I came, now talk." I demand
