"What's this big emergency you speak of?" I asked Topher as he lets me into his apartment.
"What are you talking about?" he asked back.
"Your text-" I spotted Alex on his couch. "What is he doing here?" I inquire harshly.
"Don't be rude," Topher spoke.
"Yeah," Alex nodded. "Don't be rude."
"I'll come back later when he's gone," I say.
"Actually, I was just about to leave, so either the both of you come with me or get out," Topher gestured at the door.
"Where are you headed?" I ask.
"Supermarket, let's go."
"Gladly," Alex got up and followed us out the door.
"I'm not going with him," I pointed at Alex.
"Well then don't come," Topher spoke.
"I need you to buy me groceries though," I whispered.
"Fine, but you have to come with us," Topher nodded.
I could feel Alex get up right behind me as Topher turned around to lock the door.
"Tell your brother he should have a password on his phone unless he wants his neighbours texting his pretty sisters to come on over," he whispered in my ear.
The sentence made me part my lips and widen my eyes.
Topher began to walk down the stairs followed by Alex. I stood there for a second, still trying to wrap my head up around what the guy just spoke.

When I caught up with them in the parking garage, Topher rolled down his window and asked me to sit in the back.
"What? Why?" I ask before spotting the file boxes in the passenger seat.
"Oh, no, no, let's just walk," I suggested when I realized I had to sit in the back with Alex.
"Don't be ridiculous," responded Topher.
"I'm not sitting next to him," I found myself pointing
"Violet," he hissed. "What is it with you? You're acting like a child."
I let out a sigh, knowing he was right.
I made eye contact with Alex who was patiently watching me from the back, then I felt a bit bad.
"Excuse me," I spoke as I opened the door and asked Alex to move down a bit and he did immediately. "You never realize how small this car is until you sit in the back," I complain.
"It's European," Topher explained.
"Not everything European is tiny mate," Alex joked.
I roll my eyes at the joke before Topher spots me in the rear view and clears his throat.
"Let me rephrase that," Topher offered. "It's a European sports car."
"Charming," I note.

The car ride was silent until Topher parked in the lot.
"Got a list?" asked Topher.
"No, I'll just go with you," I say before reaching for the door handle.
"No can do, Vi, gotta stay with the car."
"Why?"
"I got my clients info in there," he points to the boxes. "Plus you remember what happened last time I left the car in a supermarket parking lot."
