Violet's POV
"What do you mean?" I asked confused.
"I'm sorry Miss, we've never had him as an employee... ever," the guy at the desk speaks.
I thank him and leave the building baffled.
It's been almost two months since Alex and I got together and I've done as he's asked. I haven't walked or picked him up from work.
The one day I do decide to visit him at work as a nice gesture so we could get some food after, he doesn't exist. I walked right into the firm he had named and there was no trace of him ever working there.
I pull out my phone when I got to the end of the block and call Topher.
"Hey, Vi," I can hear him smile through the phone.
"Hey Topher, quick question, where does Alex work exactly?" I ask.
"Um, aren't you two dating?" he chuckles.
"Yeah, it's just-"
"I don't know sis, sorry. He's never mentioned it, all he's said was finance downtown... Wall Street? I'm not sure."
"He said the same to me... actually I remember now! I'm such an idiot. Sorry to bother, bye Topher," I end the call abruptly and lie.
I was already feeling like such an idiot, I didn't want to worry Topher on top of that.
I text Alex right after.
