Chapter 56: Power of a Stone (EDITED)
Willow
I decided to go out on the field and practise my target skills as I was drowning in boredom led in my room. Apart from what I said everyone agreed that we weren't going on any mission until my wound had fully healed – at the moment it was taking forever. When no one was looking I would always use my powers to speed up the healing, Xira caught me a few times but never judged just raised her eyebrow and acted as if she didn't see anything. I appreciated it. I placed my bow and arrow set neatly in the grass as I flicked my hair forward so I could grab it all together in one before lifting my head back upwards and tying it into a pony tail. I had my two strands falling down against my skin past my cheeks with my fringe covering the top half of my eye. Lifting my arrow set I leashed it across my front for me to easily obtain the arrows from the back before picking up my bow. Releasing an arrow from behind me placed it into the bow raising it high aiming towards the target. Closing my eyes and taking a deep breath, my eyes opened and I let the arrow go hitting the centre of the target.
I did the same to all the other targets amplifying my speed with each as I went. Once they were all done I went back to first one I hit to hit the arrow which already sat on place. Each arrow flew towards the arrow that sat in place striking the one in place in half so the new arrow could take its place. I think I was attacking the target now for about fifteen minutes or possibly longer. I felt that I was releasing an anger that had kept hidden – which was true. I never thought about it before but now I was. I knew my sister was lying to me just like I did with her, but I told her the truth when the time was right but it took her two years to figure that out and within those two years she betrayed me and now comes back wanting forgiveness which I can't give. Forgiveness is rare and is only given to people who deserve it. That isn't her. "That's pretty skilful," I spun round at full speed aiming an arrow at the person who startled me. Shawn. "Dammit Shawn, I could have killed you," I told him he held his hands up in surrender and stated "Thanks for not killing me," I lowered my arrow and turned back around to face the target.
"Who taught you?" he asked me standing next to me; I shrugged "Is that really an answer?" he questioned; I looked at him and answered "Fine, my dad taught me," I aimed my arrow at the target again, concentrating the best that I could; I then fired again slicing the arrow already in place. "You doing okay?" he asked me all I did was nod at him I wasn't in the mood for talking. "You know you shouldn't really be out here-," I cut him off and faced him "Why because I should be resting? Trust me Shawn I'm done resting it's boring and besides I'm all healed," I lifted up my shirt to reveal a small scar left in its place against my skin. But when I spoke I snapped at him. All he did was lower his head. "I'm sorry," I said to him I felt guilty, what happened wasn't his fault and I was taking it out on him "I'm just stressed and I'm trying to get my mind off it, I didn't mean to snap at you," he shook it off "It's okay honestly," I gave him a weak smile.
"Would you like someone to train with?" he offered kindly, I shrugged nodding at the same time "Sure, why not," I dropped my bow and arrow to the ground and unleashed my sword from my belt as he did the same. We both clashed and fought equally. "So I've heard that stone wasn't the real one," I kicked him under his legs catching him off guard as he toppled to the ground "And it never was gonna be, but what's your interest in it," I looked at him extending my arm out for him to take my hand, "What makes you think I have an interest in it?" I raised my eyebrow at him.
"Okay so maybe I know about the stone," I stopped what I was doing and paid my whole concentration on him instead. "So you already know about what it can do right, how it can save your brother's life but it can also do something else," he told me. My interest was increasing with each word he spoke. "Like what?" I asked curious as our swords clashed once more so we were facing each other close, hip to hip, chest to chest, breath on breath, It has the ability to change its power so instead of saving a life it can destroy a life it has that power but the anchor is the only one who can do that," I pushed back away from him sighing "Well that explains why they wanted me then doesn't it," I mumbled under my breath "Willow listen to me, the stone contains power," I looked back at Shawn "Meaning?" I questioned. "Willow, no stone equals no power; so if there-" I cut him off and finished for him "If there is no stone, Nathan will be free, I'll no longer be the anchor and everything goes back to normal, but there's a chance it could kill us, it could kill him," I looked directly at Shawn as he shrugged "Maybe, or maybe not."
I smiled at him and we both headed back inside. Everyone was getting ready for what was gonna come next but there was no need to be. In my opinion everyone was getting hyped up for nothing, yea maybe it was something big but if we did it right, it was all gonna be fine. I went into my room and found that there was a box on my bed. It was long and the texture was soft and memorable. My fingers traced along it delicately before unlocking it. The lid opened quickly before my eyes inside lay a brand new samurai sword, it glistened against the light in the room and its edge looked evenly sharp. I took it in my hands examining it in awe. The handle wore the same black leather as the one in belt but no longer falling apart, , "Who would have-?"
"I figured you could use a new one," I spun around and saw Xira standing in the doorway "Xira it's beautiful but you didn't have to honestly," I told her; she shook her head and came towards me "You deserve it after everything and I don't think that your sword can take any more damage than it already has," I smiled at her and hugged her tightly "Thank you," we let go and looked at each other "Your welcome, not let's go get your brother back."
Nathan
Darkness and pain, that's all I encounter as my eyes begin to open. Or at least that's what they try to do, but instead they want to stay clasped shut by my own pain. I move slightly but with my pain I don't move very far, but I am able to hear the rattle of chains. That sounds makes me realise I'm gonna be here for a while. Or maybe I possibly have already. But 'here' is somewhere I don't know. Little light travels through the room. I'm sat in complete darkness. I wrap myself in my wings creating warmth, which didn't help as much as I thought that it would. If only I didn't have them then maybe this wouldn't be happening right now. But then again, I guess no one can change how I was born. I hear voices, faint voices outside beyond the light. I don't know what they are saying, I can only muster and recognise that they are arguing. About what, now that's something I'll never know. The door eventually opened and walked in a familiar figure – Jayden.
My eyes turned away from his gaze. "Now now what's with the attitude," he laughed, I didn't answer. "Stubborn one aren't you," I still didn't answer him "Word goes round that Willow didn't survive the trip back to HQ, such a shame really thought she was stronger than that," my gaze turned to look at him and it stayed fixated "If this is some way to make me break it's not working if she was gone a part of me would be missing but there isn't and she is strong she can survive way more than you could because she's pure and innocent," he laughed at my remark "She may be pure but she isn't innocent, no one in this world is innocent, enjoy your stay," his last words before he left me back in the dark.
Why was this happening?
