Magnus Chase's POV
The moment I wake up, I know this day will be different from all the others. On my bedside table is a single note, and the second I pick it up, there is thousands of cards in the middle of my room. I read the note after staring at the pile of cards in the center of my room to make sure that it's really there.
Dear Magnus,
This day last year you were slain and chosen to become one of Odin's soldiers. This is your second death day, which is like your birthday, but the day you died. The thousands of cards in the middle of the room that magically appeared are from people/gods/einherjar's/dwarfs/elves/Aesir/Vanir who choose to send you presents, gifts, and other stuff like that. You don't have to come to anything we have today if you do not want to. Happy death day Magnus!
From The Valhalla Staff,
Wow, I really got a lot of people/gods/einherjar's/dwarfs/elves/Aesir/Vanir that wanted to send me cards. It's weird to think of this day being my death day instead of a normal day. Once this was just a normal day, but now it's not. I get off my bed, set that card back down on the bedside table, and make my way to the center of my room. I pick up the first card within grabbing distance and read it.
Happy Death Day Magnus!
I hope you enjoy being dead for another year!
From: Ray Tag
I have no idea who that is, so I throw it towards my atrium and pick up a card that seemed to levitate towards my hand. As soon as I grabbed that card, three more cards levitated out of the pile and into my hands. Man, life is so weird now that I am dead. The first one read:
Dear Magnus,
I hope you are enjoying your valiant death in Valhalla! I couldn't really come to Valhalla to tell you this myself, but Loki's on my tail again because he thinks that you gave me the sword of summer. I have no idea why he thinks that way, but happy death day Magnus! I hope I will get to hear about the great things you have done soon!
Love; Your amazing father!
I laugh at that last part, I wasn't planning on saving the world again anytime soon. I did wish I could see my father again, but I knew it wasn't the time to see him. I then read the second card:
Sup Magnus, it's Heimdall! Remember this selfie on the rainbow road! It was lit! Okay but seriously happy death day!
Taped to the card was a picture of all of us standing next to Heimdall while he is taking his selfie with no amused faces. Seriously, what is up with Heimdall and his selfies? The third card read:
Dear Magnus,
I heard your death day was coming up and wanted to send you something! Like the amazing aunt I am, I got you some red gold for your death day!
Love Freya!
I take the red gold that is attached to the card and carefully place it on my dresser so I don't forget about it. I still have thousands of cards left to read, but I take the ones I just read and place them on my mantle in a decorative manner. I can't believe last year on this day was when I was killed by Surt. Just last year I became an einherjar instead of a homeless kid on the streets. Then I heard a loud knock on my door.
"Who is it?" I call out to whoever is beyond the door.
"It's me, Alex, I was excused from all einherjar duties today and was wondering if you wanted to come to this craft shop in Midgard with me to pick out some new colors for an art piece I am making?" She says.
