School was good, people just assumed that Jaebum and Youngjae had become good friends, and Jackson, Mark and Bambam knew the truth and accepted them. Jackson said something along the lines of "I ship it!" which they took as a good thing.
Jaebum's grades continued to improve every day and Youngjae was so proud of him.
Gym was boring and probably Youngjae's least favorite class, except today. Jaebum ran close to him the whole time, stopping everytime he needed a rest.
They changed back into their uniforms and headed out to lunch.
"Oh no," Mark said on the way out making everyone turn to him concerned.
"What's wrong?" Bambam asked.
"You guys go ahead, I forgot my backpack. Save me a seat."
As he was entering the pool area he overheard two guys.
"Jinyoung has been in the water for a bit too long."
"Fuck him, he can drown for all I care."
As they walked out the pool area seemed empty but he looked around just in case.
The water reflected on the walls and as he kept walking towards the deeper end he noticed an arm come up and quickly sink down again.
He quickly reacted, he jumped right in, as he swam lower he noticing a body struggling and soon barely moving underneath. He grabbed onto Jinyoung's waist and swam back up.

He lay him on the floor, breathing heavily. The water had gotten in his eyes, causing his vision to go blurry for a second. Jinyoung's body lay lifeless and that's when he began to panic. There was no one around and he knew he didn't have time to search for help since everyone was at lunch.
He placed his palms on his chest and began compressions. No response.
"Stay calm," he told himself.
After 30 compressions, he tilted his head back and lifted his chin, pinching his nose shut, he brought his mouth over his, making a complete seal as he began blowing air.
Once, twice.
Jinyoung gasped, his eyes widening as he caught his breath.
"Oh thank god," Mark sighed in relief.
"What the fuck did you just do?" he stood up angrily but feeling dizzy and almost falling in the process. Mark grabbed onto his arm helping him stand steadily.
"I just saved your life, the least you can do is say thank you," Mark sighed. Was this guy actually mad that he just saved his life.
"I don't need your saving."
"You were just drowning, and your so called friends walked away and didn't bother to check on you, so a "Oh Mark thank you so much," wouldn't hurt."
He didn't say anything.
Mark sighed loudly and threw a towel at him walking back into the locker room to change from his wet clothes. Jinyoung followed far behind.
"Uhm. . .Thank you. I mean it."
"Woah, did I hear you correctly?" he mocked as he pulled his wet shirt over his head.
"Oh god, don't make me repeat it."
Mark laughed, and surprisingly Jinyoung laughed along with him.
They changed silently until Jinyoung broke the silence.
"I don't even know why I went into the pool. . . honestly I don't even know how to swim and I didn't want my friends to laugh at me," he looked down, ". .. how pathetic am I?'
Mark sat next to him, "You're not pathetic, and real friends wouldn't laugh at you."
A bitter laugh escaped his lips, "I don't even have any real friends."
"Well, I'll gladly be your friend," his bright smile made Jinyoung feel safe and warm for the first time in his life.
They stared at each other for a bit too long, Mark finally spoke.
"Are you hungry? We should go and eat before lunch is over."
"Yeah, let's do that," he replied, still not breaking eye contact.
