"Izaya..."

The forest was growing darker as the light slowly faded. The last thing Shizuo wanted was to get stuck in the woods after dark, especially with those rumors about what Izaya did when the sun set. Doing his best to ignore the wolf watching his retreating back, the blond walked along the path silently.

"Ne~ Shizu-chan~ have you seen the daffodil patch?" purred the raven.

A small grumble was all the blond responded, so of course Izaya kept poking.

He asked again and again and kept following the blond, till eventually Shizuo snapped and yet another tree was harshly uprooted by the blond.

Izaya let his playful smirk drop a moment, a look of almost amazement took its place.

"Seriously?" he mumbled before putting the smirk back in place.

"I don't give a damn about some fuckin flowers!!!!!"

With that the tree was thrown at the wolf. However, being a slippery bastard he dodged. Before Shizuo could blink however there was a slash across his chest and a smirking Izaya licking his bloody fingers. Trying to register what had happened the blond froze up.

"Yum~ Never had monster blood before~"

Feeling his wound everything clicked.

"You damn flea! Don't touch me with your filthy claws!" Shizuo spat, rage boiling in the pit of his stomach.

Throwing a punch at the raven Shizuo felt something he'd never felt before. Even as Izaya dodged and skidded back, deeper into the forest. Shizuo felt pure rage. The blind rage dragged the blond after the wolf, off the safe path and into the dense woods. Izaya even spewed out little teasing remarks, stringing Shizuo along with each word that uttered from his lips.

"Stop right there!" Izaya said, putting his hand out.

"IIIzzaayyaa!!" growled the blond, reaching for another tree.

"If you rip up tree's you'll kill the flowers, Shizu-chan!"

Shizuo blinked a few times, adjusting to the dim lighting. The flea was right, there where flowers all over the ground, if you stepped wrong you'd smash one.

"What do you think~?"

Izaya was happily looking at the expansive patch of yellow flowers.

"Pretty."

Izaya laughed, not the grating obnoxious kind, it was the soft and bubbly. It was an almost childish laugh, Shizuo felt a smile infect the previous scowl.

"These flowers have been here long as I can remember, apparently some human years ago planted them."

Why was he being told this? What was this wolf's motive? Bending down to gently touch a flower the blond asked just that.

"You don't like it?" replied the wolf.

"I do. I just don't understand why your showin me."

Izaya's features softened, then he ran his claws through his messy raven fur.

"They mean new beginnings or rebirth."

Two caramel eyes stared at the flowers uncertain. Then the blond remembered something.

"I thought they meant unrequited love."

Izaya was silent. It was awkward and somewhat tense. The wolf's face was blank almost.

"Don't be silly!~ they are the embodiment of spring! Don't make it depressing." it was a chipper tone and a smile played the wolf's lips.

No matter what people said about Shizuo Heiwajima, he wasnt dumb. He certainly wasn't book smart, but that didn't make him the mindless brute people thought he was.

"Hey, did you plant them?" Asked the blond curiously.

Izaya tensed, the smile became forced.

Shizuo knew he was right, he just didn't understand why Izaya didn't want anyone to know. Plucking up a flower the blond ripped one petal off.

"Izaya did."

The petal drops.

"Izaya didn't."

Another is pulled.

"Izaya did."

It falls.

This continued till Shizuo successfully plucked all the petals from the flower. The last one he held between his calloused fingers.

"Izaya did."

The last petal hits the ground.

In response to the little show the wolf scoffed.

"Are you a little school girl~?"

"Who'd you love?"

A gruesome smirk grew on the raven's lips, those demon red eyes glowed almost in the near dark forest.

"It's obvious isn't it? You see Shizu-chan," he inched closer. "I just love humans~"

It was then Shizuo finally realized it was dark.

Shit.
