Guess What

Cam starts walking over to us and I don't know whether to sit still or run out

Let's just say things happened in our relationship that I never, ever want to speak of again

Just seeing him makes me want to cringe

The terror in my face is obvious and Odell says "Melanie do you need to le--"

"What a coincidence" Cam says resting both his hands on our table

I turn and look in the other direction, avoiding any eye contact with him

"Awww Mel don't be shy now" Cam says reaching out to touch me but Odell grabs his hand and bends it backwards

"It seems to me that she doesn't want to be bothered with you, so I suggest you make your way back to your seat and enjoy your date, while I enjoy mine" Odell says sternly and I can tell if Cam didn't do just that, things were about to escalate

Cam chuckles and says "Mel, I'll be in touch, see you on the field Odell" and walks away

Tears are rolling down my face and Odell comes to sit next to me and rubs my back slowly in circles "Do you want to go somewhere else?"

I nod my head yes and he grabs my hand as we exit

We both get in his car and he doesn't start driving

"Explain" is all he says

"Odell I really don't like to talk about it" I respond looking out the window

"Why?"

"It's a long, painful story" I say tearing up again

He unbuckles his seat belt and pulls me onto his lap "You want to just order pizza and watch a movie instead?"

I start to smile again and nod my head yes laughing "Sorry I ruined our first date"

"Definitely won't forget it" he says speeding off

As we pull into Odell's driveway I notice two other cars parked outside and one of them belongs to Jarvis, but the other one I'm not sure about

"I didn't know you were inviting other people Odell" I say slightly irritated

"I didn't, Jarvis always pops up out of nowhere"

"Who else is here?" I question

"Ben"

"Who is Ben?" I ask as Odell opens the door

"I'm Ben" he says getting off the couch and running to the door "and let me guess you're Melanie"

"Yes, how'd you know?"

"Jarvis never shuts up about you and now Odell can't--"

"Ben" Odell cuts him off in a serious tone

"So Jarvis how was your date with this mystery girl?" I ask

"It went well" he answers with a slight smile

"No details JARVIS" I sigh sitting on the couch

"Noooo Melanie, how was your date"

Ignoring that, I start to look through Odell's video games

"Odell is this you?" I ask holding one of them up

"Yes" he says snatching it out of my hand

"Let's play"

"Don't want your feelings to get hurt when I win" he says poking his lip out

I snatched the game back and put it in "Likewise"

"Oooooo I like her already" Ben says giving me a high five

Jarvis just shakes his head and sits on the other couch

After playing numerous times and beating Odell every time, he finally gives up

"You okay?" I ask laughing

He throws the controller down "I'm letting you win Melanie"

"Ok, beat me this time then" I respond handing his controller back

"K, bet" he responds

"While you all do that I'm gonna head out" Ben says grabbing his car keys and exiting

"I think I am to, you kids be safe" Jarvis says grabbing both our shoulders

"So what's the bet?" I ask

"Loser has to do whatever the winner wants" he smirks

"With limits"

"Depends"

"Ughhhhh" I sigh

"You worried?" he asks

"Never"

"Come sit up here" he says laying down on the couch

"Why?" I ask

"You're cold"

"I am?" I laugh

"Alright you don't ha--"

"Fine, you don't have to beg" I quickly respond laying next to him and he wraps his arms around me

"You good?" he laughs

I just hide my face in his chest and laugh

"Guess what" he whispers in my ear

"What?"
