Whatever It Takes

Phase 2

Odell followed me out and I didn't expect him to, because it's his fault that all of this happened in the first place

"Melanie" he stops me and pushes me against the wall

"What now Odell" I respond with a tear rolling down my face

"I messed up, I let my coach get to my head and--"

"It's too late now Odell"

"Melanie...I love you"

"It doesn't seem like it" I respond trying to move away from him

"Let me make it up to you?"

"Odell it's been one month and we've already had so many issues together, I don't know if it's worth it anymore...plus I'm engaged now and I can't keep going back and forth. You obviously love football more than you love me."

He stopped talking and at the point, I took that as his agreement with what I just said

"Exactly" I ended that conversation and walked back to my car. I didn't feel like waiting for Jarvis anymore at this point.

Everything is going downhill now, so I tried calling Cameron but he didn't answer.

I decided to just go to his hotel room because I figured he was sleeping

I walked up to the front desk to find out what floor he was on and his room number

As I make my way up to the ninth floor, his room is kind of hard to find but I finally get to it

I knocked on the door and no answer

I knocked for a second time and still no response

The third time he slammed the door open and he was obviously drunk

"Cameron..." I whisper backing away from him and his face softens

He pulls me inside and locks the door behind me

"Don't be scared baby, I'm just a little drunk"

"A little...I thought you stopped drinking?"

"I'm working on it, you woke me up so you better come make it up to me" he responds neglecting the fact of how I upset I am

"Actually, I think I'll just go and let you sober up" I respond getting ready to walk back out

As soon as I turn around he says my name and I flench

Usually this is when we start to fight

"I'm not going to hurt you anymore Melanie" he comforts me as he kisses my cheek slowly

Pushing him away I respond "prove it" and continue to exit

The next morning I woke up with the worst headache, due to all my recent stress

I still haven't talked to Jarvis yet because I'm tired of having to explain myself

I just want to get out and have fun again

As I finally got up to check my phone I saw I had a text from Odell asking me if I wanted to go to the zoo with some of his friends and Sonny because he misses me

I could honestly say I missed hanging out with Odell because we always have fun, so I agreed to meet him there

I didn't feel like dressing up today so I threw on one of Odell's shirts that he left here and a pair of leggings

As soon as I got out my car Sonny start jumping up and down

"Awww he really likes you" Odell laughed handing him over to me

"He is the cutest little guy I know" I smiled back

"I'm surprised you didn't dress up" Odell said examining my outfit

"I just can't keep up with you" I joked

"Isn't this my shirt?" he asked tugging on it

"Mhmmm" I mumble

"Looks better on you" he responded staring at my body

"Odell I'm up here" I said lightly grabbing his chin

He rested his head in my hand and stuck out his lower lip

As the day went on Odell and I didn't bring up our relationship and I actually enjoyed hanging out with him and his friends

I got to see some different animals than you usually get to see at any ordinary zoo

First we fed zebras and now we are feeding giraffes

I gave Sonny back to Odell because he was scared to feed the giraffe

As he held the lettuce up I took the best picture ever of them

After I showed Odell the picture, one of his friends offered to take a picture of us

I thought it would be weird if I said no, so I just posed for the camera

At first we were kind of distant but then Odell pulled me in front of him by my hips and put Sonny on his shoulders

Moments like this make me miss what I had with Odell and I felt myself starting to tear up again

But I don't want Odell to know how bad he hurt me

Once the whole picture taking was over we started to go our separate ways

As Odell strapped Sonny in his car seat, he came back to my car to tell me goodbye

"Where you headed to now?" he asks

"Probably home, I'm exhausted now" I respond not looking him in the eye

"Thanks for coming today" he says stepping closer to me and I turned sideways so I didn't have to look at him

"I had fun.." I respond looking down

"Well...consider this phase two" he says tilting my head back up

"Phase two of what?" I ask

"Of me getting you back" he winks as he gets back into his car and speeds off
