"So where should we go?" Skylar asks, breaking the silence.
"What do you like to do?" I ask her, opening the door for her and letting her go first.
"Anything really. It doesn't matter to me." She says, walking down the sidewalk beside me.
"How about a trip to the bowling alley?" I ask her, seeing her face light up slightly.
"Sure." She says following me into the bowling alley. I pay for a lane and get our shoes, handing the smaller pair to Skylar. We both go and sit down, changing into the bowling shoes and standing up, walking over to the lane we were assigned.
"So, what's your favorite TV show?" She asks curiously.
"Umm, I'd say spongebob." I smile at her.
"Seriously?" She laughs, making me smile.
"Yep. Nothing greater than a sponge who lives in a pineapple." I smile, making her laugh again.
"Well, mine is Teen Wolf." She says, a smile on her face.
"Why does that not surprise me?" I smile at her, watching her take her first shot at the pins at the end of the lane. She knocks all of them down but three and I smile, standing back and watching her. She rolls again and gets the spare, doing a bit of a happy dance. I laugh and grab the other ball, waiting for the pins to reset.
"This is how the pros do it." I smile at her, making her laugh when I slide across the floor and almost fall over.
"I'll pretend I didn't see that." She laughs, leaning her head back, making me smile at her.
"You know, you're cute when you're not serious." I tell her, making her roll her eyes.
"Shut up and take your turn." She tells me, sitting on the chair behind the lane, laughing when I only knock down three pins.
"Stop laughing." I say, only making her laugh harder.
"I'm sorry." She giggles, leaning over, trying to catch her breath. I roll my eyes and go again, picking up my spare.
"Ha! Beat that." I smile, dancing in a circle around her.
"Sit down, bozo." She laughs, pushing against my chest. I stick my tongue out at her and go sit down, watching her get a strike.
"Beat that." She mocks me, making me laugh.
"Fair enough!" I smile, looking at the scoreboard.
"Man, I suck." I laugh, picking up the ball and rolling for my second turn.
"It's all in the wrist." She says to me, standing beside me.
"And how do you figure that?" I ask looking at her.
"Relax your wrist." She says to me, using her hand and pushing my wrist gently.
"There. Now, roll it." She says and I do, surprisingly getting a strike.
"Woah. That actually works." I smile, feeling proud of myself.
"Did you doubt me?" She asks crossing her arms.
"Never." I smile, poking her stomach gently.
"Don't do that." She giggles, grabbing my hand.
"Why not?" I ask doing it with my other hand.
"Stop!" She laughs, picking up the ball and rolling it. Right before she lets go of it, I sneak up behind her and start tickling her, making her laugh hysterically. The ball she rolled, hits the gutter and she glares at me.
"Oops." I smile at her, shrugging slightly.
"You're gonna think 'oops'." She says hitting me gently, making me laugh.
"Quit it." I laugh, turning my shoulder to her.
"You deserve it." She giggles, continuing to hit me.
"Okay, okay. I'm sorry." I say laughing, tickling her again.
"Emery! Stop!" She laughs, pulling her knee to her stomach, trying to stop me.
"Nope!" I laugh, continuing to tickle her.
"Oh my gosh! You're Skylar!" A girl's voice says and I stop, looking over my shoulder at the girl.
"Yeah! What's your name?" Skylar asks, walking over to the girl.
"I'm Valerie." She says shyly.
"It's nice to meet you! Do you want a picture?" Skylar asks her. The younger girl quickly nods and I smile to myself.
"Em, can you take the pic?" Skylar asks me.
"Sure!" I smile, taking the phone from her and waiting for them to be ready. I focus the camera and take the picture, walking to them and showing them the photo.
"I love it! Thank you so much!" Valerie smiles at me.
"You're welcome." I smile at her, giving the phone back to her.
"You look familiar." She says to me.
"I do?" I ask curiously.
"Oh wait! Are you Emery Kelly?" She asks curiously.
"I am." I nod, making her look at Skylar.
"Can I take a picture with you?" Valerie asks smiling at me.
"Sure!" I smile at her, Skylar taking her phone. I put my arm around her and smile for the picture.
"Okay! Here you go!" Skylar says, showing Valerie the picture.
"I love it! Thank you guys so much!" She says excitedly, both of us nodding happily. She walks away and I look at Skylar.
"Think she's caught on?" I ask her, making her shrug.
"I think she thought about it." She says, handing the ball to me. I smile at her and remember to relax my wrist, getting another strike.
"You're a cheater." Skylar says giggling, putting her hand on my back, walking behind me.
"Am not." I smile, looking at her as she steps in front of me.
"Are to. Don't touch me." She says, looking over her shoulder at me.
"Touch." I smile, poking her arm.
"Emery. I swear." She laughs, looking at me.
"Sorry, babe." I smile, using the nickname.
"Don't get carried away with that." She says, making me nod. She takes her turn and gets a strike, doing another happy dance.
"That's cute." I laugh, watching her stick her tongue out at me.
"Shut up, you're just jealous you're not this coordinated." She giggles, making me roll my eyes.
"So, very jealous." I smile at her, her giggle making me smile.
"Can you not? I'm trying to focus." I say to her, making her laugh even harder. I turn around and look at her.
"What is your deal child?" I ask half laughing, making her laugh harder.
"I just like imagined if you...hang on." She laughs, trying to collect herself. I wait for her to answer my question and she finally calms down.
"Okay, so when you picked up the ball and started throwing it, I had this visual that you actually fell over and like stayed there." She says laughing again.
"You have problems." I chuckle, rolling the ball and getting every pin but four.
"I don't know why it was so funny though." She giggles, standing beside me again. I pick up my spare and smile at her.
"Wow, you know, arrogance isn't cute." She giggles, ruffling my hair.
"Yeah? And what is cute?" I ask her, putting my hand on her waist and looking at her.
"Hmm let's see. Puppies, koala bears, umm kittens, what else?" She asks herself, making me smile.
"Me?" I ask smiling.
"If only you weren't so conceited." She giggles, making me smile again.
"Oh, it's your turn by the way." I smile at her, her giggle coming back.
"Stop making me laugh!" She says, picking up the ball and rolling it.
"I'm sorry I'm just so funny." I smile at her.
"Funny lookin." She teases me, making me smile at her.
"You know, a jokester, you're pretty cute." I smile at her.
"I know." She smiles, making me smile again.
"Conceited much?" I ask her, her smile growing.
"Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not. The world may never know." She giggles, taking her turn.
"No, but I know." I smile at her, her giggle coming back.
"Oh, really now?" She asks me, making me nod.
"You're not conceited. I actually think you're really sweet." I tell her, making her smile and even blush a little.
"Only to people I like." She says, pushing her hair out of her face.
"Am I one of those people?" I ask, standing in front of her.
"Hmmm, I'll have to think about that." She giggles, looking up at me.
"How long will that take?" I ask smiling at her.
"As long as I want it to." She giggles, sticking her tongue out at me.
"I know you didn't just leave me hanging." I smile, and she nods.
"But I did." She giggles, taking her next turn.
"Okay, we have five minutes left to the lane. What do you want to do after this?" I ask her, leaning against the ball machine.
"Hmm, how about food?" She asks giggling.
"Fine with me. Where do you wanna go?" I ask her.
"I'll let you pick." She giggles, watching me roll the ball one last time. I get a strike and wait for the machine to calculate the scores.
"I won!" I say excitedly, making her giggle.
"What do you want? A cookie?" She asks smiling at me.
"A kiss." I say smiling at her. She kisses my cheek and laughs, walking away from me.
"Not there." I laugh, sitting beside her and changing my shoes.
"Sorry. You'll just have to live with it." She giggles, standing up and waiting for me. She's a handful, but I'll admit, I think it'll be easy for me to fake this. Or at least it should be.
