"Psst, Carl" I whispered as I gently shook him. I did it a few more times before his eyes fluttered open.
"What is it?" He asked, his voice raspy, as he rubbed his eyes and sat up on his bed.
"There's a school not that far from here. I think we should check it out" I suggested.
Carl sat in silence to think for a minute. "Y/N, my dad will kill us" he said. I grinned.
"Carl, come on. We're fifteen years old. We can't be stuck in this prison forever. Pleaseee" I practically begged, poking my bottom lip out at him. Carl groaned and then got up.
"Alright, I'm coming" he mumbled and I couldn't help but smile excitedly.
"Meet me outside" I sang and walked out of the cell and down the stairs.
I quickly, but quietly, slipped on my shoes and then made my way out the door. Five minutes later, Carl walked out. "Alright we have to get these gates open without anyone hearing" I whispered towards him.
"I really think that this is a bad idea" he whispered back. I frowned a little and then smirked.
"Is baby Carl afwaid?" I teased.
Carl glared at me and shook his head. "No, I'm not afraid. I just don't want to be eaten by walkers" he snapped at me. I guess maybe he's right. We could get surrounded by walkers and risk the prison being flooded.
"Okay, fine. You're right" I grumbled, pouting.
"And you say I'm the baby." Carl chuckled.
I couldn't help but smile. "I admit. You are a bit of a badass" I confessed. He chuckled and grabbed my hand.
"Come on. We could go to the roof." He said and he pulled me along with him back inside the prison.
We made our way to the roof very quietly so that we didn't wake up anyone else. Once we got up there, Carl sadly let go of my hand. "We could sit and watch the sunrise. It's beautiful in a way" he said as he sat down on the pavement.
I sat next to him and gave him a slight smile. "Yeah I guess we could do that." I agreed.
Carl looked at me. "You wanna know something?" He asked. I nodded, tilting my head.
    "Yeah, sure. What is it?"
"I've never had my first kiss" he mumbled. I couldn't help but let out a little laugh. "Are you laughing? Please don't laugh" he groaned. I started to laugh even more.
"Carl, you don't think I know that? We've been best friends since you joined us at the camp. I'm the only girl you've been stuck with so far. In case you haven't noticed, I haven't had my first kiss either" I explained.
He smiled at me and then looked down at his hands nervously.
"Penny for your thoughts?" I asked. Carl looked back at me and chuckled.
"You don't have a penny" he stated. I pulled out a penny from my pocket and grinned.
    "Now do I?" I joked.
He chuckled and then held out his hand. "Sure" he answered.
I sat the penny in the palm of his hand and he put it in his pocket.
"I was thinking that since you're my best friend that maybe we could...I don't know..be each other's first?" Carl stumbled nervously.
I blushed at the thought and looked down at my lap. "Do you think we should?" I asked awkwardly.
I liked Carl. I really did, but when you have your first kiss it's supposed to be with someone special. Carl is special, to me, but I don't know how special I am to him. I am the only girl his age that he's been around.
"Yeah, I think we should. We're close and who knows when we'll meet other people our age" he proposed. I blushed once more and looked at him.
"Okay, yeah. We should go for it." I agreed. It was Carl's turn to blush and he let out a nervous laugh before he began to lean in. I did the same and tilted my head slightly as our lips brushed against each other.
My heart raced a mile a minute and all I could hear was the loud pounding against my chest.
After what seemed like a long moment, we lean in once more and our lips clashed together. I didn't know what to do. I didn't know how to kiss, but he didn't either so we just winged it. Our lips moved together in sync as Carl's hands moved to grip on to my waist. I hesitantly wrapped my arms around the back of his neck, pulling him closer as we continued to kiss. It was nice.
He was a good kisser, but I wouldn't exactly know because he is my first kiss and there was nothing I could compare it to.
After a few minutes, we pulled away and just stared at each other. None of us said a word, both of our chest rapidly rising and falling.
After a minute I cleared my throat and looked away from him awkwardly. "That was um..." I mumbled, not able to finish my sentence.
"It was nice" Carl finished. I blushed and looked back at him.
"Was it really?" I asked. I just realized how close we still were and I blushed even harder.
"You thought so too... right?" He asked, a little fear evident in his eyes. I laughed a little and nodded.
"Yeah, it was. I liked it" I answered honestly. Carl smiled and pulled me into a hug.
I hugged him back and rested my head against his chest, and after a minute we pulled away. Carl kept his arms wrapped around my waist and pulled me closer to his side. I smiled to myself and laid my head on his shoulder and looked out at the night sky. Neither of us were tired. We just sat comfortably in each other's hold and kept each other warm.
"How about in the morning we go check out that school?" Carl suggested. I grinned and looked up at him.
"Yes!" I cheered. He laughed at my cheerfulness and kissed the top of my head.
"You're adorable" he chuckled. I blushed, once again, and kissed his cheek.
   "You're cute" I shyly said.
He kissed my nose. "You're beautiful" he mumbled. I giggled a little and kissed the corner of his lips.
"And you're breathtaking" I whispered in his ear.
Carl stared into my eyes and his lips crashed onto mine. I kissed him back instantly and gently cupped his cheek. "And you're mine" he whispered against my lips before pulling away.
I smiled and blushed furiously as I rested my forehead against his.
We stayed in each other's arms and stayed like that until the sun began to rise.
"It's beautiful" I commented as I watched the sun rise and the sound of the walkers clawing against the fence filled the air. Thankfully the fence is able to hold.
"Just like you" Carl mumbled. "Cheesy," I laughed as I pulled myself out of Carl's hold, "Alright, let's go in" I said as I stood up, holding my hand out towards him to grab.
He pouted but nodded and took my hand, standing up. We walked back inside the prison and saw that everyone was still asleep.
I walked back to my cell, with Carl following along, and we laid down. That morning we fell asleep in each other arms. This had been a great night.
