"Your brother? Who is it? Why is this such a bad thing?" You sit down, waiting for her explanation.

"Because it's my step-brother who's so freaking ashamed of me that he's come to NYC just to tell me how much he hates me!" Jackie bursted into tears at the other end of the phone.

"Ah, I'll be right there," you begin, standing up. At this, Taehyung gave you a confused look, crumbled napkins in his hand.

"No! You stay at your apartment just in case I need another home to go to!" After saying that, Jackie hung up.

"Well then, I could totally help you after you hang up," you mutter angrily, taking your phone away from your face.

"Wah, why is upset?" Tae stands up to go throw away the napkins.

"The next lesson we have, I'll teach you about complete sentences," you mutter, staring down at your phone.

"Anyways, Jackie was just being.. a bit out there. She mentioned something about a step-brother coming and visiting her," you proceed, putting your cellphone down on the coffee table.

At 'Jackie' and 'step-brother', Tae's eyebrows rise in an expression of recognition. But it was only for a fraction of second, because then he masks it with a confused look.

"Tae, do you know who Jackie was talking about?" You sit down opposite of where he had sat previously.

"Uhm, no," he replies, shifting his weight from one leg to the other as he stood.

"I see," you respond, pursing your lips into a thin line as you began to be consumed by your thoughts.

Well, I should go over and make sure she's okay regardless of what she told me, you thought, even though she has a bad habit of exaggerating things. Who knows? This step-brother might actually be a nice guy.

But then again, Jackie seemed to be having a bit of breakdown over the phone. You should be prepared to deal with the unexpected, regardless of what Jackie said.

"Tae, I think you should go home now," you finally say.

"Why?" He scrunches up his nose in confusion.

"Well, it's getting a little late and I have to go make sure Jackie is okay," you reply, grabbing your phone and stuffing it into one of your jean's back pocket.

"She is okay," he says confidently.

"How can you be so sure?" You raise an eyebrow in question.

"Just am," he responds, the two words sounded more like a question and less like a statement.

"Alright, but I'm still checking," you smile, putting on a heavy jacket.

"Then I come with," Tae says, pausing slightly before continuing, "you."

"Nice! Your English is getting better by the day," you say brightly, your heart swelling in your chest.

It truly made you happy to see how much Taehyung has been improving; it really did.

"Okay, so let me drop you off at home first—"

"No! I mean, uh, I come with, remem?" Tae fidgets nervously, biting his bottom lip.

"Okay, and it's 'remember' not 'remem'." You eye him suspiciously, knowing all too well that he wasn't telling you everything.

And now that you think about it, there's a lot that you don't know about Taehyung. Yeah, you knew he was 21 years old and his birthday was about a month away, but there wasn't much besides that. You knew that he came to America, New York specifically, to pursue his dream of becoming an actor but after that? The guy was a total mystery.
