Linden woke to the sound of laughter. He opened his eyes and found Leah sitting astride his chest. "Come on Linny its Christmas, wake up?" Leah shook him harder. He knew it had to be Leah, his little sister. She was just seven years old, thirteen years younger than he was and she bothered him constantly these days.

But for Linden, his sister was the cutest girl with long, straight blond hair and chestnut eyes matching to his which they had both inherited from their mother.

He was already awake but stubbornly kept his eyes shut just to tease Leah. She started tickling him across his chest and under his arms, as she knew how to wake her brother up. "Okay Lei, I am up, I am up," he surrendered, choking back more laughter. He sat straight up on the bed, picking her up and placing Leah in his lap and bent to give her an Eskimo kiss.

"Now, come have breakfast with me," Leah grabbed Linden by the arm and began dragging him off the bed. He couldn't help but admire his sister. She was mulishly cute.

"You go ahead and start eating your breakfast. I will join you soon," Leah pouted and scrunched up her face in a grimace but she left gasping. "Be quick lazy Linny," Linden grinned as she shouted before walking out, lightly slamming the door shut behind her.

Linden looked at his phone that was lying there on the bed-side table. He wanted to call Ivy, but he didn't know what to say. Moreover he thought she might not have woken up this early in the Christmas morning, after the bad drunken night.

Linden hopped out of bed and quickly walked into the bathroom, His feet were bare, and the tile floor was ice cold. He had always hated getting shower in the cold winter morning as to step on the frigid tiles floor. It was made mandatory by his mother during his school days to take shower before breakfast.

Linden was 21 now and was still living in his parents' house, he loved it but he wanted to have his own apartment. He even looked at some in Williamsburg, but they cost too much, with having to put two months' security down and all. He didn't have a regular job; he was a free-lance photographer, a good one.

The relishing spray of hot water running down his back, he thought actually morning shower isn't that bad even. He would have like to wash his hair, but didn't want to stay up dry it. He was already very hungry, so he quickly soaped and risen before turning down the water and wrapping himself in one good thick and luscious towel. It took some few more minutes to finish his morning routine. When he finally came out of the bathroom and he hurried up the staircase and down the hall to dining room.

As he entered the kitchen, the familiar heat of the grill washed over him, and the smell of sizzling Celery, Onions, and Bacon filled his nose. His face lit up, he literary ran shouting to his mother and hugged her tightly giving, "thank you," because she cooked his favorite breakfast of Christmas like all other time.

"Don't be such a drama king." His mother muttered, shaking her head and forcing her eyes open. There was a small smile playing on her lips. Linden straightened in his chair, moved closer to the table, and began to eat his breakfast.

He stifled a laugh and popped his first bite into his mouth. "Wow, Mom, this really is good." Linden said, staring at his plate.

"I was just wondering where you went last night?" Her question caught Linden completely off guard. Linden choked on his food as his mother crossed her arms.

"You know it, I went out?" The shock was visible in his voice; Linden was confused how his mother could know it. It is not like Breezier could go and tell her.

"Cause you know I am your mother and mother knows everything," His mother laughed weakly while she put both of her hands on her hips.

"So where did you sneak out?" His mother asked him as she started to heap his plate him with more of the delicious breakfast.

Casey looked up casually after swallowing her bite of food and said like it was usual, "He went to meet his girlfriend" Casey was his sister, she was younger than Linden but eleven year older that Leah, she was 18. He coughed to clear his throat, surprised to find his voice cracking as he fought back his fume. No offense he loved both of his sister but that why he prefer Leah, she would never irritate Linden that way. Leg pulling of Linden was Casey's childhood nature, as it something which would never change.

"Shut up Cass,'

"No I don't have any girlfriend," Linden said, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand.

"Hmm, May not be girlfriend, but I am sure she was a girl and friend," His mother said, voice taking on a light teasing tone.

Linden narrowed his eyes at his mother and huffed, "No girl and no friend, It was just a Christmas Eve party," His full family stared at his for a few seconds and then started to sniggering. Even Breezier leaped with a joyful bark.

"It doesn't seem funny to me at least," He shook his head in disbelief but he decided not carry it on any more. So he just started eating his food again.

Linden father's deep, loud, gruff, commanding but very fake voice told, "Now nobody would tease my boy."

"Okay," His mother agreed willingly, and his sisters also nodded. They really didn't talk anymore about that, the rest of breakfast they enjoyed by continued to rediscover family time. They all enjoyed talking about nothing yet everything.

When Linden pushed back his chair to stand up, his mother stopped him and she said suddenly, her smile brightening, "Linny, I guess you can invite her for today's dinner if you want,"

"Really?" Linden asked her, with a deeper, intense smile which made everyone break out laughing once again. It felt really awkward; he turned a little red, and blushing so he ran as fast as he could to his room.

He came back into his room and reached for his phone. But before he could even flop into the couch and let his breath shallow, he saw his phone blinking, "missed call!" He sighed caused it was a call from Ivy and couldn't received it.
