"Can you not change the directions to English?" Logan asked.

"I don't really think that I can," Alessa admitted as she once again pressed on various buttons on their TomTom. She wasn't exceptionally bad at technology but this device was unnecessarily complex. It had taken Alessa and Logan almost half an hour to figure it how to work the stupid thing.

Logan sighed. "Then you have to keep telling me the directions."

"That's fine," she responded.

They had been driving for an hour now to Santa Cruz.

Her birth parents were from Santa Cruz, Chile. Dolores from LNP had told her that their address and that they wouldn't mind them coming to visit them.

That morning they had rented a car and were on their way to Santa Cruz.

"It's really beautiful here," Logan commented.

She smiled. "It is, isn't it?" Her eyes gazed out of the window. The surroundings were of mountains and green valleys. It was gorgeous. If she would have grown up here, she could imagine herself being happy.

But then she wouldn't have Nic and her translator job.

The drive was spent mostly talking about their surroundings, but neither mentioned the impending meeting that was about to come.

Her stomach was in knots at the thought of meeting her parents. Even though Dolores had assured her that they were happy to see her and were just glad for the fact that she was alive, there were still some doubts in her mind.

But she tried to ignore thinking about them.

It helped that Logan helped along with this process and was just acting like this was some fun road trip that they were doing.

The final fifteen minutes to Santa Cruz were spent in absolute concentration and with multiple curses from Logan. The roads were utterly confusing and the TomTom sent them on a wrong road before it realized that they were going the wrong way.

Next time she was just going to use Google Maps.

At least it wasn't as bad as the TomTom.

"Holy shit, your parents must be insanely rich," Logan exclaimed as they finally reached their destination.

The statement was an accurate representation of what the house looked like. It looked like it was owned by insanely rich people. It was a pale yellow house with two floors and at least twenty windows on each floor if not more.

The house was gigantic. The front garden was big too and filled with a variety of plants. It would cost a fortune to even take care of the garden.

"What the hell do they do?" Logan asked.

Alessa shrugged. "I don't know." When she had been talking with Dolores, she hadn't thought about talking what her parents did. All she wanted was to see her parents. It had been the only thing on her mind.

Not once had she thought about anything else like how rich they could be.

Logan stopped the car in front of the closed garage before he turned towards her. "You ready for this?"

"Not really," she admitted with a smile.

He chuckled before leaning over to give her a quick kiss on her lips. "I'll be with you the whole time and if your parents are horrible people to be around, we can always say that we have to leave early, okay?"

She took a deep breathe. "I guess so."

"Let's go then," he said.

She opened her car door and stepped out in the sun. It was a warm day with a bright blue sky and very few clouds. It was a good day to be meeting her parents for the first time.
