CHAPTER SEVENTEEN:

| lynette’s pov |

He didn’t leave me. I’m glad he didn’t. I don’t know what I’d do without him. I’m used to seeing him every day, and he’s part of my schedule.

I’d be ruined without him.

But I’d be even more ruined if things don’t go the right way.

Not now, not now. Things will be perfect soon.

Cal places his hand on top of mine. “How about we go out? You know, let’s forget about this. It was a stupid mistake.”

I want to refuse and say that I’ll stay here. It was getting late; I stayed at home when it’s late.

But I agree, I agree, so he wouldn’t try to leave again. “Sure,” I said, with a wide yet fake grin.

“Where do you want to go?” He stood up and pulled me up as well. I look around, trying to find my clock on the wall, but I couldn’t find it.

“Somewhere near,” I replied, fearing if we went far enough, we wouldn’t be able to get back anymore. I hated sudden changes, but if I had to have things perfect, I needed to do what he wanted for a while.

But in due time, I know I’d be able to do things I wanted.

He copied me, his eyes darting from place to place. “I know!” He exclaimed, his fist raising up in triumph.

That didn’t look right. That wasn’t right.

“I know where we should go!” He dashed out of the room, with me nearly being dragged if I hadn’t ran the same pace as him.

He shouldn’t have done that; I could’ve gotten hurt.

But I breathe in and breathe out, having difficulty concealing the annoyance I felt. We just made up, but I felt like it was better if I did let him leave me.

Then I remember if I do that, things wouldn’t be the same.

And same things are the best.

Not a thing should be changed.

Unless it was to make everything perfect.
