CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE:
| lynette’s pov |
“No,” I whispered as I look around the room.
What was that dream? I felt like it was real, like it happened before.
But when I try my best to access that part of my brain, nothing happens. No flashbacks come, not even segments of it. And that makes me feel incomplete.
It all felt like something I experienced before, and I need to know if that is the case.
But why was Calum there? Was that real? I don’t want it to be; I hope it’s not.
“It’s not,” a familiar voice said.
It came out of nowhere, and I had to look around for a few seconds. I then saw Calum, at the corner of the room, his arms crossed.
He had this kind smile on his face, as if it was a reassurance that it was true– that he wasn’t the guy in that horrible dream.
“How’d you know?” I asked, my hand reaching out to him, so he’d come nearer.
He did as I wanted and sat beside me on my bed. “You were talking in your sleep.” He held my hand, and I immediately felt better.
Although, there was no warmth from his touch, it was good enough for me.
I nodded, seeing it as a possible and acceptable reason. No one actually told me that I do sleep talk, but then again, I live alone.
“Wait, how’d you get in here?” Last time I checked, he was on his way home. He asked for a kiss; I gave him a kiss on the cheek. I also remember locking the door before I drank medicine and went to bed.
Was there any other way for him to get in here?
“Window. I climbed through the window,” he instantly answered, and it was as if it was the truth.
It made me believe him because he could’ve done that. “I see.”
“Let’s sleep,” he said, taking off his shoes and getting under the covers.
From the start, I knew I’d be doing stupid things because of him, and this is another one to be added to the list.
Because I agreed.
I slipped in, next to him, and began to close my eyes, feeling the exhaustion come back.
“Good night, Lynette. Sweet dreams.”
