"Kate? What's wrong?..... Kate?" I heard a deep soothing voice call out to me from a far. I felt something warm squeeze my shoulder gently making me look up from the library window . I met the pair of beautiful blue eyes staring into mind , searching, filled with worry and concern. It felt comforting to know that someone felt that way since I had not told anyone about mother. So far I managed to cloak my despair with my usual carefree self but he always managed to catch me off guard.

After I gained consciousness, Holly and I could not discuss any further due to Riley's presence. She was so worried about me for the past few days that I could not find it in me to tell her. I did not want the same thing to happen to her. She was too young and sweet to carry such weight of news thus I kept to myself .

Back in the library, Jake sat next to me still holding my gaze. This time, I felt his thumb brush hesitantly on my cheek. I blinked just realizing the tears . I knew it was a bit too late for a cover but I quickly wiped my cheeks and sniffed. I was sure my nose was pink and I was probably bound to get sick soon.

"Nothing's wrong. Why do you ask ?" I said sniffing at the end. Wow that is so believable.
Judging by his expression, he did not fall for it. I laughed sheepishly.
"Okay..." He responded raising one eyebrow giving me a suspicious look. I thought he would demand an explanation or something however,"You look cute with your nose and cheeks all pink kinda makes it hard for me to look away.

I immediately felt my cheeks heat up . How can he just say that offhandedly and smirk. Ugh.. The things this boy makes me feel. God Why! " Wha... what is wrong with you ! You..you sick idiot. What are you here for anyway?" I asked . Sure it came out a bit harshly but you can't blame me, he started it.

"What.. can't a guy come to visit her favourite girl after a long weekend?" My expression gave him the answer and he chuckled, "No? Fine... worth a  shot . First, I did come here to see you. " He paused waiting for a reply but it never came.
"Second, Seth  told me to give you this.." He paused taking out a piece of paper folded in half written to Katey on one side. " He said 'Make sure you give this to Katey ' " He finished the last part imitating his son. I laughed at how on point he was even with the slurped 'S' .

"There is that beautiful smile. You should do it more often ." I froze not knowing what to say . See how this guy makes me react. Honestly, what was I supposed to do when he would complement me out of nowhere expect blush. Ugh...

"Oh and lastly, I was going to inform you that Miss Watson is off duty today. Instead I'm inviting you to go to the park with Seth and I after school. I've informed M&M so you don't have to report there. You're free to decline if you want but I know Seth will be very happy to see you. I'm jealous of how fond he has become of you... Makes me feel like I got competition." He mumbled the last words as if talking to himself.
"So... I'll wait for you at the parking lot after school.  Bye.."

With that,he stood up, ruffled my hair playfully with one hand and grabbed my unattended muffin with the other. Well there goes my lunch. It was not like I would have eaten it though so I was glad he took it.
After he left, I wondered why people would surprise me with so much information and leave immediately they are done , leaving me confused and perplexed.

Nonetheless, I unfolded the paper he gave me and I saw the most heart warming drawing . I could not believe that Seth thought of me that way. I almost felt like a proud mother looking at the three stick men  drawn. To the left was a tall man (assuming)wearing long trousers . Below it was written daddy. In the middle was a kid that was Seth and the last one was a long haired stick woman wearing what looked like a maid's dress . Below it was written Katey . I swooned at how cute it was . Lastly, below the people, was a four year old's handwriting ' I love you Katey '
Even If I was planning not to go , I could not say no to such an adorable message.

At exactly three pm, the school bell rang signalling the end of one hectic school day. Boy was I glad it was finally over. My mind was still wrapped up in the idea of getting into a car with Jake a.k.a my Master, annoying Prince Charming of the school and an adorable father. How did I end up in such a situation?

Almost immediately I stepped out of the school building, I got a text from Riley informing me that she would be having dinner at a friend's house because they had a huge class project to work on. There went my back-up plan of using my sister as an excuse.
I was walking along the parking lot wondering if the universe enjoyed seeing me get stuck in sticky situations when I  bumped into a hard torso that had an oddly familiar and comforting cologne. Before I could stumble back as a result of the impact,  gain my personal space and apologize,a pair of hands caught my shoulders to stabilize me.

Once again that day, I met the gorgeous  blue eyes boring into my emerald ones, searching. Unaware of myself I held onto his leather jacket for support getting a fuzzy warm feeling. As attractive as always, a few strands of his dark hair fell on his forehead. It was as if they were planned to.
"You're  even more beautiful up close. " He said his eyes holding the utmost sincerity. My cheeks heated up when I realized our position but somehow I was glued to the spot.

"Wow... intense." A  male voice, coming from behind Jake caught us off guard. I pushed myself away gaining my composure. What just happened?  I tucked my brown locks behind my ear nervously. I leaned sideways to take a peak of the guy since Jake had not moved from the initial position . His eyes were closed suddenly letting out a frustrated sigh.

"Must you ruin everything?" He finally spoke looking back at the guy and moved sideways so that I could get a full veiw of the guy. The parking lot  was pretty much empty.. Phew.. lucky me. If it were not, I would be dead the next day.
The guy chuckled and stood next to Jake. He looked familiar.  Probably one of the guys I met at the Inn. His name was Brian ... I think.
The blonde haired dude gave me a once over surveying me before smirking . Wow I could see why they were friends. " Ah... the Kate girl. I knew I saw you from somewhere and look at that... we are in the same school. I must say you look even better without the apron." He said smirking.  I rolled my eyes seeing right trough his act .

"Could you please take your lame flirtatious  moves away from here? " Jake spoke diverting Brian's attention from me.
"So this is the girl that has got you distracted. Man I'm  jealous . Here I thought my little Jake would be single forever." He said patting Jake's head like a master to his dog.

I laughed at how comical the situation was. I could tell they were close just by that. " Look at that. She smiles too. Did I mention that I envy you man?" Brian commented . Honestly it was getting annoying . I was not some display to look at. Clearly my annoyance seeped through because Jake chuckled .
"You don't want to annoy her dude." He said.
"Hey what's that supposed to mean ?" I retorted punching him lightly .

"See what I mean? I'll introduce you  guys. Brian, this is Kate my... library partner, and Kate, this is the cocky annoying Brian you met at the Inn a while ago ." He finished

"C'mon you know you love me." Brian added playfully .
"Nice to meet you Brian . Can I ask you a favour? Please keep this a secret I'm really not one that loves attention." I said suddenly serious.

"Straight forward too." Brian said smiled. "Don't worry sweet cheeks your secret's safe with me. Although it's gonna be hard not noticing such a pretty lady... ouch! What was that for?" Jake had punched him to shut him up . I chuckled satisfied at what he got.

"We gotta go... Seth's waiting for us." Jake said taking my hand and walked towards his sleek black car.
"Adios amore! See you soon.  Jake be a good boy okay? Tell Seth I said Hi." His voice died down as I looked back and waved at him before Jake opened the door for me to get in.

I admired their relationship. I also could not help but wonder, who else knew about Seth. However it was not for me to meddle into his life no matter how curious I was.
