Act 006: Truth In Deadland

﹂✧﹁

"Row row row your boat, gently down the stream,
Merrily merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream!" Alice sang from the top of the hummer where she sat with Kohta and Saya.

"Alright! Let's make it a duet this time!" Kohta exclaimed excitedly.
"Okay!" Alice's response was just as excited.

"Shoot shoot shoot your gun, watch em while they squeal!
Bang bang bang bang, life is but a dream!" Kohta sang happily and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't funny.

"You're so good, Kohta!" Alice exclaimed happily and I snorted softly in amusement. She was so innocent, it was kind of adorable in a way.

"What's so funny?" Shin asked me dryly as he caught my amused expression.

"Kohta," I said simply.

He gave me a stern look, "There's nothing funny about teaching a child violent songs," he said in what I'd dubbed his 'teacher' voice.

"Oh please, Shin," Rin snorted, yawning and rubbing his stomach, "Remember the 'little lamb' incident?" He smirked at Shin and I laughed as Shin's cheeks turned bright red.

"You promised you'd never speak of that!" He exclaimed, downing his head.

"Oh? Do tell, Rin," I said teasingly and Shin groaned while Hiro chuckled softly from the driver's seat.

We were currently crossing a shallow part of the river that was police-free. Shin, Hiro, Rin, Alice, Saya and Kohta were over here in the H2 with me because we had more space for passengers while Shizuka drove the others over in the Humvee. They had the supplies so less people were over there.

"Are we there yet?" Rin groaned after a while, throwing himself back against the seat with all the exasperation of a thirteen year old boy.

I gave him a look, "Don't you dare start that again," I muttered and he gave me a challenging look, opening his mouth.

"We're here!" Hiro announced happily as the H2 came to a halt on the other side of the river.

"Land!" Rin exclaimed dramatically, opening the door and tossing himself to the ground.

"Real mature," I said dryly as I walked over his prone form. He stuck his tongue out at me and I rolled my eyes.

"Aiko!" Was all the warning I got before Alice jumped off the top of the H2 and landed on my back. "Morning!" She exclaimed happily, letting go of me and sliding down my body so she could hug my legs.

"Oi! Pipsqueak! Get off my sister," Rin deadpanned as he got off the ground and stood beside me, looking down at Alice.

She puffed her cheeks up and glared at him. "I am not a pipsqueak, you big bully!"

"Said the pipsqueak indignantly," Rin shot leaning down to give her a sarcastic smirk.

"I don't know what that word means!" She whined stomping her foot.

"Just goes to show how much of a pipsqueak you are," Rin said smugly, "Now scram. The adults have some discussing to do." He gestured between himself and me while I held back a laugh at the serious expression on his face.

"You're not an adult!" Alice retorted, "You're just a kid like me!"

Rin's eye twitched, "How many times do I have to tell you people? I'm not a kid!!" He yelled.
Alice giggled and said sweetly, "You're right you're not a kid, you're a big baby!"
