Chapter 11: A forced mating?

Liam couldn't help but feel a little taller ever since Neil agreed to be his mate. 

Even though Neil was a human and it would make the mating matters a little more challenging than usual he still couldn't help but be really happy that he at least had someone who wanted to be with him. Its been a long time since Liam last shifted into his wolf, and he could no longer fight his natural instinct to shift when the boys got back home from school. 

When he made sure that everyone was asleep Liam snuck out of the house barefooted and took a deep breath of fresh air. Liam knew things would be a little harder, and a little different with a dominate human mate. But there had to be away around all that, wouldn't there be? It hurt Liam to think that he wasn't like all the other traditional wolves. Most traditional wolves go through the change when they are sixteen, and when they do they find their mate a dominate mate who doesn't hesitate to mark him and they mate for life. 

Neil isn't a wolf. 

Liam realized, so Neil can't mark him or mate with him. He let out a shaky breath as he forced the wind to dry his watery eyes. It isn't enough for Neil to agree to be his mate, there's much more to that. When Liam made sure that the humans in the cabin were no where in sight he took of his clothes, quickly shifted in mid air and landed on the ground with a thud and an echo. He could hear, see, and smell everything in a new light, his senses were all enchanted at once and when he could see the silver moon that hung high in the night sky he couldn't help but let a howl rip free from his muzzle. Liam's paws dug through the dirt, and the scratchy grass as he sprinted his way through the muddy grassland and the tall tree barks of the forest. 

He felt free.

Liam's wolf was happy and so was he. He pushed his little hind legs to run further and faster, deeper into the woods without any sense of direction. He went on like that for awhile until he found a small lake in the middle of the woods and decided to take a break and settle there. Liam's wolf huffed when his long tongue slapped his face, his tail kept wagging back and forth as he decided to take a drink out of the cold, and fresh lake.  As Liam looked down at the sparkling water he frowned at his reflection. His wolf's fur that was once a beautiful shade of gold was now all dirty. 

He has been denying his wolf's care. Liam slipped into the water and decided to clean his fur. Now that he finally had someone to keep his coat nice for, it almost made Liam excited to know how Neil is going to react on first seeing him in his wolf form. And since it was going to be Neil's first time seeing a werewolf he sincerely hoped that he thought that Liam was beautiful. Most other dominants first thought that he was, but someone better always came along and eventually forgot about him.  He was hoping Neil was different, he hoped that he stayed.

Suddenly, a twig snapped. 

Making Liam's wolf ears twitched and his body was stiff and on high alert. He let his snout search for any signs of a human nearby but it wasn't one. Liam let out a sigh of relief, it was a human it could have been a hunter and that hunter could have killed him on the spot. He looked again just to make sure but when he couldn't see anything around, he decided to shrug it off. Liam decided to stay and play in the water for a few more minutes before the nice humans that he was staying with realized that he was gone. He couldn't break their trust with them already.

As he dipped his head in the water and shook off the excess his tail froze again when another twig snapped. Someone was definitely here! And it was another wolf! "Beautiful." A deep and painfully familiar voice murmured behind him. Liam's paws swiftly paddled and swam around to face the wolf. The alpha, he gulped. Liam's wolf was shaking all over, and he hated how his omega side was already turning weak into jello at the sight of the man in the water. He knew that he was eventually going to find Liam again but he never thought that it would be this quickly! This soon! He knew that the alpha was going to kill him!
